Food Noise Returning at Low Retatrutide Dose After Tirzepatide Switch

Did you step down from tirzepatide first or jump straight across? You are also moving from a higher tirzepatide dose straight onto the usual retatrutide starting amount. Even though some say retatrutide is weaker on food noise because of lower GLP activity, your situation is expected since you now have less GLP overall. If you can accept a little temporary weight gain, just wait. You could add a smaller tirzepatide dose while you raise retatrutide, then drop the tirzepatide later to test how you feel. Or you can keep both going if that works better.

I changed from tirzepatide to retatrutide starting January 10. I began with frequent 1 mg shots and slowly raised the amount while checking for side effects. I now use 3.5 mg twice a week. Since January 10 I have done 14 injections for a total of 31.5 mg. Food noise has stayed manageable; I added two small tirzepatide shots on January 14 and 21 when it appeared. Swapping 6 mg tirzepatide for 2 mg retatrutide is not likely to keep appetite or food noise under control.

Check the plotter. Your tirzepatide is dropping quickly while retatrutide levels need weeks to build. More frequent dosing can help bridge that gap. I would not inject faster than every two or three days so any side effects can be stopped. When I switched I used 2 mg every three days, then moved to 2.5 mg every four days, 3 mg every five days, and finally 5 mg once a week. Retatrutide tends to leave more noise than tirzepatide but weight still comes off. I schedule my noisier days for weekdays and keep weekends clearer.

I did not consider sharing the graph. The tirzepatide peak reached 5.6 mg while the retatrutide peaks sit in the low to mid 9 mg range.

You are still far below a useful dose and retatrutide takes time to become noticeable. Even adding the extra 1 mg you mentioned will not produce clear effects yet.

If you were on 6.25 mg tirzepatide you could probably move directly to 3 or 4 mg retatrutide with only modest extra side-effect risk. Retatrutide has a bit more GLP-1 activity, which drives most stomach side effects. To raise doses quicker than every four weeks, small 1-2 mg shots every two or three days work well while tracking levels on the plotter and watching appetite or side effects. Once side effects appear you know the current level is as high as you can comfortably go, or once food noise drops that becomes your target. Small doses also mean any side effects fade in a couple of days instead of a full week.

I am seriously thinking about slowly raising retatrutide while lowering tirzepatide. I would stop the other compound a few weeks before trying this. I am not ready to switch fully yet but I want to test one vial to decide if I should keep buying more for long-term storage. The plan would be month one 7 mg tirzepatide plus 1 mg retatrutide, then 6 mg and 2 mg, then 5 mg and 3 mg, then reverse back down. I would finish the single vial partway through the downward phase. I would freeze two-thirds of the retatrutide at the start even though it may lose some potency, since six months in the fridge feels too long. The whole idea is based on rough estimates rather than exact receptor matching.

The doses do not translate directly between the two medications. Retatrutide may feel roughly half as strong and some side effects can be stronger because of the different makeup. I switched cold turkey from 2.5 mg tirzepatide to retatrutide, stayed at 2 mg for three weeks, then moved to 4 mg. Instead of rushing to combine things I am just adjusting the retatrutide dose up or down as needed. Patience helps.
