Recovery time after discontinuation Reta

5 replies5 peopleDec 10, 2025☆ Follow
Summary

How long after stopping Retatrutide does hunger return to normal, and can treatment be paused then restarted without issues?

Forum users report hunger returning to pre-treatment levels anywhere from 1 to 4 weeks after stopping. Several have paused for roughly a month due to circumstances and restarted without problems, sometimes beginning 1 mg lower than their prior dose. Appetite suppression can begin within hours of the first low dose, leading some to plan ongoing maintenance use for continued control.

Whether a 1 mg maintenance dose will stay effective over time or if any contraindications exist for intermittent use

Nothing here is advice.

Once you quit Retatrutide, how soon does the appetite go back to what it was before starting? And can you pause for a couple weeks and pick it up again without problems? Any reasons not to do that?

I quit Reta roughly a month after hitting my target weight. About seven days ago the old level of hunger returned completely, and I ended up bingeing for the first time in months over the weekend. I'm thinking maybe I should start a small maintenance dose again.

For me the constant hunger returned after about ten days off reta, with the urge to binge showing up around the two-week mark. I'm using it again now because I had to stop temporarily. I've paused and restarted twice before with no trouble either time, and each break lasted around a month.

I've decided I'll stay on a maintenance dose once I hit my goal. The appetite suppression hit me fully within six hours of the very first 1mg dose. Not sure if 1mg will still work later on, but the control it gives is reason enough to continue.

When you started again, did you jump straight to the same dose you stopped at, or did you begin lower and work your way up?

I dropped about 1mg below where I had been. So after pausing at 4mg I restarted at 3mg, and after a break at 3mg I came back at 2mg. It was just a gut feeling, no real science behind it, but I thought since I had been increasing by 1mg every four weeks, a four-week break would probably reduce my tolerance by that same amount.
