Summary

Does reta help with ADHD symptoms like impulsivity and dopamine chasing?

Users share mixed personal experiences with reta and tirz on ADHD symptoms. Several report reduced impulsivity, less dopamine-seeking behavior, and better focus on daily tasks, while others notice no improvement or even worsening symptoms such as increased fixation on research. The effect is often linked to changes in reward pathways and food noise reduction, but results vary widely between individuals.

I made this thread after noticing some online chatter saying reta eases adhd issues. Wondering if that has any truth to it or if it's all made up.

PlainAlder11archiveJul 15

Do you mean forum or thread?

PlainHarbour73archiveJul 15

From my own experience I've noticed major positive shifts with my ADHD after beginning reta. Shopping urges have dropped off along with unnecessary spending habits dopamine seeking feels reduced and my emotions don't flare up as fast. Things finally seem more balanced haha

GreyAlder39archiveJul 15

I've seen no verified studies on this topic so far, just what individuals have shared from their own trials. A handful mention getting some relief from those urges, yet a number of others find their mood drops further and they risk picking up new worry problems. Having a doctor oversee the whole thing feels preferable to me, above all when already using another prescribed item, and even then the amount should be raised only a little at a time with plenty of caution.

After reading the thread, I'm taking one of these compounds now and thinking about trying the other. Those side effects haven't shown up for me on what I'm using, so assuming they're real and not just stories, I'd like to understand why the two might act differently. I've seen that keeping my urges to eat in check also cuts down on other habits that feel compulsive. It seems like getting the eating side sorted lets me handle the ongoing hunt for that feel-good chemical more easily since the urge isn't always active.

PatientBeacon63archiveJul 15

This medication has gotten rid of most of my constant thoughts about eating, and that includes reducing my interest in having alcoholic drinks quite a bit. I still might have one or two wines or mixed drinks when going out with my partner, yet the amount is significantly lower than before I began taking it. On the other hand, there's been no improvement in my ADHD from this. It actually feels like it's worsened because I've started focusing intensely on looking into other similar substances instead of my usual hobbies or interests haha.

This matches my current experience in the same way.

My wife's ADHD shows no signs of improvement from the treatment.

AmberMarble84archiveJul 15

Both of them aggravate the symptoms I have.

Today marks six weeks since I started this and I truly never expected or knew anything about it yet when I think back something does seem different. Those obsessive tendencies really haven't shown up for me. Still I've gotten way more curious about peps lately lol.

After getting diagnosed with combined type ADHD, this medication has given me quite a bit of relief. It curbs my nonstop drives toward dopamine and eases my problems with holding back impulses to some degree. From what I've come across, its effect on quieting food thoughts links to dopamine and the brain's reward pathways. That might account for the partial improvement it brings to my ADHD symptoms too.

It hit me the same way. Only the screen time stats on my device made me realize the time I'd devoted to peptide info in those beginning weeks on the board 🀣

My focus during games has improved a lot. Before, I would game constantly because staying on one thing was hard for me. I'd switch to playing something to clear my head about whatever I was doing, and that let me come back to it with better attention. These days I have zero urge to start up a game at all. I'm finishing way more work now. The same goes for other habits like browsing the web endlessly, checking sports numbers all day, or even placing bets. Those were all little ways I kept my thoughts occupied before.

Yeah this hits hard the pleasure mechanism in video games has vanished completely and I think overall motivation feels wiped out too. Hard to admit but hardly anything brings enjoyment these days yet I'm stuck anyway similar to how promotions claim certain products will leave you numb and that's all nonsense feels exactly that way here.

It's mostly the pointless parts that changed for me. I still like hanging out with my family and the other day a live show was really enjoyable so that side of things hasn't shifted. These days though I handle tasks just to finish them such as meals where I don't aim to take in more even when the taste is good I simply consume because it has to happen. I skip delaying chores now so when the shed needs sorting I take care of it at once rather than holding off until the feeling strikes. Similar kinds of things.

This same trouble is hitting me as well. Autumn term begins in forty days, and rather than getting prepared for it my time goes to researching those items instead.

Haha, right on target. I shouldn't fault that compound at all, my focus problems are what drive everything. With more years behind me, directing my strong obsessions gets tougher by the day. That probably explains why I'm looking into those exact compounds as well. πŸ˜‰

Breaking down what happened for me, the strong results from the GLP1s sparked an idea that other peptides might deliver similar benefits. Suddenly one day I felt compelled to dig into more information. Exploring the topic in such depth really resonated with my ADHD tendencies, leaving me quite absorbed in learning about that entire scene and related aspects like where to obtain things.
