ADHD & Reta

9 replies6 peopleJun 25, 2026☆ Follow
Summary

Does retatrutide reduce the effectiveness of ADHD stimulants like Vyvanse or Adderall?

Users report mixed results when combining retatrutide with ADHD medications. Some notice weaker stimulant effects or reduced need for their usual dose, while others see no change or even positive impacts on focus and impulsivity. A few mention similar dampening with pre-workout supplements. Suggestions include testing the combination briefly or switching to tirzepatide if issues arise, plus exploring peptides like semax or selank.

Hi everyone, quick question. I've had chronic ADHD and stayed on 70mg of Vyvanse for years, which also helped with my binge eating. During research I came across reports that reta basically cancels out Vyvanse effects, and that would be a real problem for me. Has anyone experienced this combination? I know responses to meds differ, but I'm wondering if it's a frequent thing.

Not on Vyvanse or any ADHD med, but pre-workout feels much weaker on reta than before. I'd guess the same thing happens with stimulant meds.

I'm on Adderall and have been using it less since starting reta. I think reta itself has helped my ADHD. The safest approach is to try it for a week or two and monitor how you feel. If it causes trouble, stop reta and switch to tirz. ADHD can be really tough. You could also add peptides like semax or selank that some find helpful for ADHD symptoms.

Interesting. I've been on methylphenidate since March after an ADHD diagnosis a few weeks earlier, and it's helped a lot with my mental health and daily struggles. I just started retatrutide last weekend, so hopefully the two pair well for both mind and body. I'll keep an eye on this thread.

Not Vyvanse but I've taken Adderall 10mg daily for ADHD for 18 years now at age 45. I didn't notice any drop in how well my Adderall worked when I started. If Adderall users see no change but Vyvanse users do, maybe it's tied to how the Vyvanse pro-drug turns into dextroamphetamine. With GLP-1s and GIPs cutting cravings for food, alcohol, and drugs, I sometimes wonder if that ties into executive function. I was in a tirz study for 18 months at 15mg and noticed less interest in alcohol, less rumination around rejection sensitivity, and lower impulsivity. It wouldn't surprise me if ADHD benefits get added to the list of effects for this class someday.

I've used Vyvanse and now take Adderall, on stimulants consistently for just over a year at 27. I feel like I need the Adderall to function and rarely skip it, unlike with Vyvanse when I sometimes took breaks on weekends. Since starting my third 2mg dose of reta I've reached for it much less often. I also began semax and selank at the same time though, so I can't be sure it's only the reta, but my impulsivity has dropped sharply and I rarely drink now.

Could you share what semax and selank are like? If you don't mind. I'm curious to look into them and would like to hear your own reasons for starting and how it's going.

Sure. I began both on June 17th at 500mcg daily each. First day I tried 250mcg since it was my first time injecting and I wasn't sure how it would feel. That day my usual nonstop mental chatter went quiet. My brain normally feels like the SpongeBob scene with tiny workers panicking and files on fire from morning to night, which is why I wanted to try these. I could finally slow down, think without constant interruptions from worries, and it felt like what normal focus might be. I also noticed I seem stuck in fight-or-flight mode a lot. After a few days I started yawning, something I rarely did before.

I recall the first time I took a stimulant and everything suddenly went quiet too. Glad things are working out well for you. Do you do the intranasal version or subq?

SlowAlder82archiveJun 28

I'm using subq. I've heard nasal works better though, so I might switch to that next time.
