Reta - No Effect

Summary

Why am I not feeling much from retatrutide after weeks of dosing and is it normal to respond slowly?

The starter realized after avoiding the scale that substantial weight loss had occurred anyway. Contributors stressed that therapeutic levels build over roughly four weeks, individual responses vary widely, and some only notice clear effects at higher doses. Tracking actual weight, calories, and habits like sleep proved more reliable than relying on appetite feelings alone.

Hi everyone, I bought some retatrutide and I'm heading into week five. I began at a relatively high starting amount and have been edging it up. Here's my schedule so far. Honestly I'm not noticing much change yet. I can still eat normally but my cravings have mostly disappeared and clean eating feels easier. I get slightly fuller sometimes, but that's about all. My girlfriend is on the same schedule and she's already dropped 23 pounds, so I'm wondering if I'm just someone who doesn't respond. Feeling a little let down and wondering if others have seen a delayed reaction or needed more time before it really kicked in. Schedule: Week 1 at 2 mg, Week 2 at 3 mg, Week 3 at 3 mg, Week 4 at 3 mg, Week 5 at 4 mg. Appreciate any experiences people can share.

CopperAlder51archiveDec 31, 2025

It takes four weeks for retatrutide to hit therapeutic levels in the system. You're also moving the dose up pretty fast. Standard approaches keep each step for four weeks, usually starting at 2 mg or sometimes less. Since you're already at 4 mg and handling any sides okay, I'd stay there for four weeks before deciding anything. Did you switch over from sema or tirz? That can slow things down until you reach a higher amount.

↳ replying to @CopperAlder51

Appreciate the reply. This is my first GLP-1, never used sema or tirz before. I know I probably stepped up too fast, but I'll hold at the current level for the next four weeks like you said and check again after. Good to hear it needs about four weeks to reach proper levels. All the online talk made it sound way stronger and quicker than it actually is. I also left out that I'm on TRT, not sure if that changes anything with retatrutide. Funny thing is my girlfriend noticed effects right away in week one, so it must be doing something for some people.

PlainKettle41archiveDec 31, 2025

Did you get any body scans done ahead of time? Are you doing any resistance training along with it?

BlueCompass33archiveDec 31, 2025

I didn't notice much until I reached the highest dose. I'd say just keep increasing if sides aren't an issue, maybe a little slower than before, and only drop it if nothing meaningful shows after more than a month at the top dose. Then maybe look at tirz instead.

CopperAlder51archiveDec 31, 2025
↳ replying to @KeenWillow91

Possible, though I haven't used TRT so maybe others can speak to that. You do have to give it time to do its thing. Everyone responds differently. For me the first few days were noticeable, but you never know until you try. Also, staying in a deficit, exercising regularly, and keeping decent sleep are big factors in how it turns out.

KeenWillow91archiveDec 31, 2025
↳ replying to @PlainKettle41

No body scans beforehand. Yes I've been lifting five days a week for years. Current split is push, pull, legs, rest, upper, lower, rest, trying to hit each muscle group twice weekly. Cardio could probably use some work though.

KeenWillow91archiveDec 31, 2025
↳ replying to @CopperAlder51

Thanks for the info. Training isn't an issue for me, that's the easy part. Sleep could use improvement though. My deficit has been more consistent lately.

SteadyPebble10archiveDec 31, 2025

Body scans, solid testing, and a serious training plan all matter a lot. Good luck.

WryMarble87archiveDec 31, 2025

Retatrutide was my first GLP too and I also didn't feel much at 2 mg or 4 mg. Effects showed up clearly for me at 6 mg. Stick with the plan, hold at 4 mg for a full month, and if you still don't feel it then move to 6 mg. The fact that your cravings are already under better control suggests it's working, and higher doses should bring more once you get there. Just don't rush the increases.

Yes, we finished the first vial together. We just opened a new one but I haven't used it yet. I'll try it soon.

I was thinking the same thing. I noticed changes the day after my first 2 mg dose. Currently at 8 mg.

BlueTimber78archiveDec 31, 2025

Same thought here. Did you get any testing done or has the batch been checked elsewhere? Not that I've seen much zero-percent retatrutide around, but five weeks with basically nothing at those levels and no prior GLP use seems unusual. Even a placebo effect would usually show some weight change. Basically injecting saline at that point. So back to basics: how are you tracking calories? Are you tracking them at all? Not required but when weight isn't moving it's usually a good place to start looking.

ClearHarbour45archiveDec 31, 2025

I'm not a strong responder either. Until I reach the higher end of dosing I get almost nothing. Retatrutide does little for me until 8 mg and plenty of people say appetite suppression is weak on it, so I add 1.5 mg sema which helps a lot. Calorie tracking matters too. You might think you had a low-cal turkey sandwich on high-fiber bread all day and forget the 200-calorie snack and 340-calorie drink, or the roll of candy adding another 30 grams of sugar, plus 800 calories for dinner. Not terrible until you add 3 oz bourbon and two beers for another 700. Hang in there. Also if you're only 40 pounds over your target you're probably not going to drop weight at the same rate as someone starting 150 pounds over.

PlainKettle41archiveDec 31, 2025
↳ replying to @KeenWillow91

I wouldn't add cardio if the goal is adding muscle or strength, especially if daily protein intake isn't already solid, which I don't know about your situation.

KeenWillow91archiveJan 1
↳ replying to @BlueTimber78

I didn't test the retatrutide myself but bought it from a source listed on the site that had lab results for the batch. I don't think it's fake, especially since my partner had real trouble losing weight before and is now seeing clear changes. On my end I track calories carefully, weighing everything in grams and staying consistent. Usually around 1500 to 1700 calories a day with 180 to 200 grams of protein.

KeenWillow91archiveJan 1
↳ replying to @PlainKettle41

I am hitting my daily protein target. As I mentioned in the other reply, around 180-200 grams per day.

WryTimber80archiveJan 1

Have you considered adding cagrilintide? I was basically a non-responder to tirzepatide, went all the way to the max dose and only lost about a pound over eight months. Switched to retatrutide and saw some appetite change but nothing dramatic. Started around 2 mg and moved up fairly quickly since sides were minimal. After three weeks on retatrutide I added cagrilintide and that's when the weight really started coming off. Now four months in and down almost 48 pounds. It works through a different pathway and gives very strong appetite control, which might be what you're missing. You could try a single vial first to test response. I felt the suppression on day one. Stacking the two has worked well for me and others. Started cagrilintide at 0.5 mg per week.

WryTimber80archiveJan 1

Another thing worth trying is changing how often you dose, like one shot a week versus splitting it. People react differently. I started with three injections weekly but switched to once a week and feel stronger effects that way, though some report better appetite control with two or three shots. Diet and hydration also play bigger roles than people give them credit for. Are you getting enough protein and water? They sound like basic advice but they really do affect how well these compounds perform. Don't give up if retatrutide hasn't done much yet. These drugs hit different pathways to different degrees. Even though retatrutide targets three pathways it isn't necessarily as strong on the two that tirzepatide hits. The key is finding which pathway your body responds to and adjusting from there.

BlueTimber78archiveJan 1
↳ replying to @KeenWillow91

Not sure then. 1500-1700 is already pretty low unless you're already small and lean. Even without any drugs I'd expect weight loss at that intake. Did you just start TRT recently? Wouldn't normally expect it to change much unless you just began or are using higher amounts. The only explanations that fit are that 1500-1700 is actually maintenance for you, which seems unlikely if you're not already lean, or you're holding a lot of water for some reason.

AmberMarble84archiveJan 1

Maybe you won't respond until the higher doses of 8-12 mg. Increase but don't rush it. It's not uncommon to need more before feeling anything. You're not necessarily a non-responder at 4 mg. Also check if something else is going on. Did you get a full blood panel before starting? Good to have a baseline. If there are metabolic issues the dose often needs to be higher to see movement. You're only at 4 mg now. It needs time. Also didn't mention how much you want to lose, your height, or current weight.

KeenWillow91archiveJan 2

Update: turns out this whole post was unnecessary. I owe everyone an apology because the thread ended up being a waste of time and that's on me. I was judging progress only by how I felt and looked instead of just stepping on the scale. The truth is the scale and I haven't been on good terms for years so I avoid it most of the time. I figured I'd just know if things were working from appetite changes, how I looked, or how clothes fit. Well today I took the sixth injection and something told me to finally check the scale. Down 24 pounds. Yeah. Felt pretty dumb right after seeing the number, especially after writing a whole post wondering if it was even working. Clearly it is, just not the way I expected. What's interesting is I still don't feel strong appetite suppression. I can eat normally and don't feel dramatically different day to day. That said, cravings are mostly

CopperAlder51archiveJan 2

No need to get worked up over this. Everything functions through some kind of sorcery and the awareness has only just hit you.

BlueTimber78archiveJan 3

Oh yeah I need to put this in my set of routine inquiries for when folks report no change in their weight. Did you actually use the scale? Everything makes sense now.

AmberFenwick92archiveJan 23

Results show up at 8-12 mg according to the trials.

AmberFenwick92archiveJan 23
↳ replying to @CopperAlder51

Good point, I haven't had weight loss yet and I'm on week five of retatrutide, but I do see appetite suppression and think I'm eating less overall. I wonder why it takes four weeks to reach therapeutic levels, I don't really know what that means honestly.

CopperAlder51archiveJan 23
↳ replying to @AmberFenwick92

I discovered that graphing my intake history helps me see when it plateaus and the amounts present at each stage. I input the amounts from my last several weeks or estimate future ones to view the resulting curve.

LevelThistle44archiveJan 23
↳ replying to @AmberFenwick92

People often mention hitting effective amounts once someone holds steady at six to eight milligrams weekly for roughly four or five weeks. Reaching an average exposure matching that weekly total does not require the full period, though the system still needs time to respond to the new signals even when the overall amount arrives sooner under alternate schedules. Those weeks come from the way current levels combine the latest dose with whatever remains from the prior month, since the half-life sits near six days and full clearance takes four or five cycles. A single milligram drops to half after six days, then to a quarter after another six, and keeps halving until it falls below noticeable amounts. The buildup shows up clearly when tracking repeated doses: starting with one milligram leaves half plus the next full milligram after six days, then the remnants continue stacking with each following dose until the peaks level off near the same total after about thirty days. The main actions differ across these compounds. The first two focus on curbing appetite so daily calories drop. This compound adds glucagon activity that can lift resting energy use by roughly ten percent while also helping limit intake. That design keeps the other two signals weaker per milligram than in the earlier versions, letting the dose rise high enough to use the metabolic lift without pushing the remaining pathways too far. The long slow drop after each peak and the way successive doses overlap both appear in the final level reached after nine smaller injections.

I kicked things off at three hundred ten pounds by easing in very cautiously with point five milligrams and staying there for fourteen days before raising anything. From October fourth at that weight I reached two hundred eighty pounds by December seventeenth while using five milligrams. My start was near three hundred eight pounds on the low beginning amount and changes showed up early on. Things did not go entirely smoothly though since I added ten pounds during the holidays from overeating across seven days and then saw zero further drop for about a month. Several factors lined up then including that holiday slip along with starting ipamorelin on December twenty third and switching sources on the same day. By January twenty third I sit at two hundred eighty three pounds into my second week straight at eight milligrams. The added weight checks out but the flat stretch afterward still leaves me a bit puzzled. Appreciate the details shared.

LevelThistle44archiveJan 23
↳ replying to @RustWillow38

Carrying ten pounds extra equals roughly nine containers of liquid. Putting on that much body fat over seven days would require consuming thousands more energy units daily, which doesn't seem probable. This substance might boost stored carbs leading to fluid retention, boost hunger, and add muscle. Holiday treats combined with reduced activity and the peptide could account for the scale not moving much easily. Was the number stuck or perhaps resuming progress after adjusting to the compound and shedding the extra weight soon? Do you measure your intake, nutrients, body mass, drugs, and workouts precisely? I began hormone replacement recently, anticipating comparable fluctuations on the scale temporarily from fluid before seeing extended advantages. I factored this into my progress outline and currently weigh a few pounds less than at the start.

Just moved up to 10 mg. It's definitely been a different world with slower loss since Christmas, although 30 pounds that quickly was likely mostly water. New blood work coming in and as long as body fat percentage is trending down I'm happy. Thanks for the input.

People should notice this thread more often since it's simple to overlook. That graphing tool works well and really illustrates the possible amount of GLP-1 present inside the body. I gave it a shot myself and found the results unexpected. Currently at the start of week one in my own R process, it kept me from worrying too much because sensations are minimal right now. This also explains the reason some individuals adjust doses based on wrong ideas and end up taking too much.

CopperAlder51archiveJan 29
↳ replying to @KeenKettle59

It's nice to see things working out just as hoped. Even with everything moving fast these days, certain processes still need patience. I've let the effects build by raising the amount only every four weeks, reaching week sixteen now, since I tend to respond well. That approach has brought a fifty-pound drop so far.

Right from the start I picked up the latest version. Without keeping tabs on the load it felt just like trying to steer through nighttime with zero illumination.

KeenWillow91archiveApr 13

It's been roughly four months since I started, and I just reached my target of 166 pounds a couple weeks back. Everything feels good, and I'm pleased with how things turned out. Now I've stopped using that compound and moved into a phase where I'm building lean mass. Notably, I didn't have any negative reactions throughout, not even when dosing at 10 milligrams, and I could consume meals without restrictions or problems. Seems my system handles larger amounts effectively. I've seen the same thing happen with other performance enhancers. That substance worked well for my purposes, so I'll definitely try it once more when I cut again.

KeenAlder60archiveApr 13

I wouldn't rely on any seller's own testing since there's no way to confirm it matches the exact lot that arrived. Instead I reach out to others who ordered the same lot so we can split the cost of checking it ourselves and actually know the results. This compound doesn't quiet appetite signals the way the other one does. It just brings on fullness faster so I take a modest serving then wait around ten or fifteen minutes to judge whether I'm satisfied before going back for more. The appetite signals seem to drop only once the amount gets larger though the fullness arrives earlier.

Avoiding the scale was something I did so well that my clothes shrank from a 7xl down to an xl or maybe 2xl long before I felt ready to check my weight at all. The fear of seeing those digits kept me from it, and once I finally looked, 115kg showed up, making me feel a little upset because more work remained ahead. Using clothing measurements helps monitor how things are going yet lacks exactness.

PlainAlder11archiveApr 13

My spouse never shares her scale numbers with me. I check my own weight on Tuesdays and Fridays. Her smaller frame is obvious from the outfits she stopped wearing years back. The other day I got a real kick out of it when her pants slipped off while she reached into the refrigerator.

I've been using retatrutide since November 2025. Wasn't impressed until the last two months when I dropped 3.3 kg in March and 3.6 kg in April. Was on tirzepatide from July 2025 and swapped to retatrutide in November. Starting weight 111.3 kg, now 93.4 kg. Forgot to mention I've increased from an initial 1 mg to 6 mg twice a week, so 12 mg per week.

My experience lines up with that. Spent a couple weeks at 2mg followed by two more at 3mg yet nothing feels different at all. Weight stays the same even though I'm exercising and tracking intake. Having used Tirz earlier makes me notice the gap since hunger disappeared fast and the pounds dropped quickly then. Hoping Reta starts showing up soon or else it's back to Tirz for me 🀣
