Reta seems to be not working any more???

Summary

Why has weight loss stalled on Reta after 47 kg lost and dose increases to 15-20 mg weekly?

The original poster reports a stall after 22 weeks despite raising the dose, with appetite returning at night. Others note the loss is still substantial relative to starting weight and that 1000 calories daily plus minimal exercise may be triggering metabolic adaptation. Suggestions include tracking consistency more rigorously, adding another compound, or accepting diminishing returns at very high doses. Several users flag that 15-20 mg is unusually high and unstudied.

What this discussion establishesWhere people disagree

Whether the stall is mainly from insufficient calories or from the drug losing effectiveness at high doses

Whether stacking another compound would restart progress or if the current dose is already past the point of meaningful returns

I've been on Reta for 22 weeks. The last few weeks weight loss has stalled hard and appetite returned especially at night. I'm down 47 kg total. I was on 15 mg a week but went up to 20 mg and saw no difference.

If the approach fails it causes the pounds to return instead of just freezing the slimming progress. How much do I weigh these days? Boundaries exist in practice for nearly everything. Combining options might be my next move.

First step would be to check the numbers. Consistent daily weigh-ins at the same time, calorie counting, and exercise tracking. Losing 2+ kg a week is very aggressive, but from your starting weight it's more reasonable. My own goal is 1% body weight reduction each week.

I have everything recorded, weekly weigh-ins and a strict 1000 calorie intake, but I admit there's no real exercise beyond a daily 30 minute walk. Appreciate the input.

I started taking fifteen milligrams every week in the middle of February.

15 mg Reta per week? What's been your dose schedule from the start?

SharpTimber80archiveJun 16

15-20 mg per week is extreme. I have never heard of anyone taking that much. I would check where you're getting your reta first and make sure it's legit.

Man that's high. Why such a high dose?

At lower doses the food noise kept coming back so I went up to get rid of it.

Some buddies of mine use this too, though in tiny amounts, and they say it helps them nicely.

SharpTimber80archiveJun 16

This stuff barely affects my cravings at all. However it lets me consume much smaller portions. Right now I'm taking 6mg and have lost 42 pounds from the start of the year. I'm gradually raising the amount each month.

Maybe the container wasn't working properly either. This happened to me not long ago and things turned out messy.

Probably the reason for the plateau. I needed to consume additional energy and start exercising regularly. A daily intake of just one thousand calories fails to maintain proper bodily function. The lack of weight reduction likely stems from my metabolism entering a protective state, as insufficient consumption leads it to conserve all incoming nourishment.

I'm doubtful whether that approach resolves anything, yet a thousand calories looks far too minimal relative to the body mass referenced earlier. Twice the amount could still leave a shortfall.

I see your point and there could indeed be other things involved. Consuming 2000 calories would probably put someone in a shortfall situation anyway. That seems like the logical starting point to me.

Two folks I know have tried reta near the mid twenties mark. It hits harder than twelve yet the edge stays modest because GLP-1 compounds lose extra impact as doses climb.

From my own results after starting out and shedding that much weight the medication delivered a slightly weaker response than what most people see ending up with about a quarter drop rather than the typical higher percentage after a full year at the maximum studied level. Amounts above that point have no human data available yet so guessing future outcomes is uncertain though a bit more reduction could happen while running into smaller added benefits along with stronger unwanted reactions. The main point is that it keeps holding steady against any regain. Dropping from the higher starting weight to this level may not match hopes but it still improves long term health outcomes and holding steady matters just as much. I agree that pairing it with the other compound makes sense since reliable human data stays limited except for one known combination. That alternative tends to give milder effects with more drawbacks yet costs less while the newer option has only just come out. Solid reasons exist to expect worthwhile further reduction from using both together and this route looks more promising than raising the current dose or mixing with something else. Beginning with tiny amounts and increasing them gradually seems sensible either way. Reactions from combining these types of drugs stay mostly untested but the health dangers tied to severe excess weight probably exceed them. A lot of the suggestions ignore how hard it is to train when carrying that much mass so if it feels difficult now holding off until more comes off could turn out safer and more doable. I personally could not manage much activity until I had lost quite a bit more finding even brief movement uncomfortable at first yet adding distance slowly worked after that. The low daily intake can fit with long term metabolic changes though it still counts as quite restricted for the present size. Tracking portions carefully over a week and using a program to add up nutrients might give a clearer picture or meeting with a nutrition specialist could help too.
