People on Tirz what side effects hit you hardest? Sugar cravings up or down? Any foods lose their appeal? Other stuff? I hold off on candy but keeping my licorice bags while the weight still comes off would be perfect. lol

GERD hit me hard. It was worst the first month and has eased since. Twenty hours after the first shot I nearly threw up with my mouth filling with saliva and I couldn't swallow. Started at 226 pounds on just 3 mg so it wasn't an overdose. Now it's milder stomach discomfort usually 15-20 hours later. Food noise stays with me but I feel full after three bites. The effect fades by day four so I switched to every six days. Three months in at 7.5 mg heading to 10 mg after a recent plateau of about a pound a week. Down 39 pounds total from BMI 40 to 33.

No stomach side effects here. Food noise shut off right away. I didn't know I had alcohol noise too until that disappeared. The main thing I've dealt with is anhedonia which was strongest the first 8-12 weeks but regular gym time has helped a lot.

A couple people I know tried mixing reta and tirz and got good results. They moved from tirz to reta to get past a stall then ran into sides while raising the reta dose so they went back to microdosing reta while keeping tirz and started losing again.

LevelFenwick49archiveMar 9

Do we count loss of cravings as side effects? It depends whether you mean obsessive food thoughts or normal hunger and occasional cravings. You could probably still have licorice now and then if the rest of your eating exercise and dosing stay on track unless it triggers binges. I began at a 0.50 mg microdose so my sides were probably lighter than people starting at 2.5 mg. Appetite dropped and I felt full faster with the constant food thoughts gone quickly. No stomach issues until I reached 1.25 mg.

That's the idea I had too maybe tirz with a little reta or a small tirz dose alongside a normal reta amount.

Appetite suppression and feeling full plus fatigue are the main things so far. I just moved up to 3.0 mg from 2.5 mg about a week ago.

GERD got really bad and I had major stomach problems with bloating and nothing passing. The pain was terrible until I threw up and that finally helped. I'm stubborn so I skipped a week then restarted slowly with 2.5 mg shots spaced 10 days apart then 7 days. Once I settled in everything calmed down. I get pens through prescription so I can't easily adjust the dose. If I started over I'd want a slower ramp than the doctor gave. Effects are fading toward the end of the week but still workable at 2.5 mg and I added a bit of Cagri.

I began very slowly and have been on Tirz since October. I've had small hard stools twice and needed a laxative those times. Slight nausea on injection day. Things don't taste as good anymore except sweets. No GERD. Food noise is gone too.

WarmHarbour28archiveMar 10

Since it slows digestion pooping slows down too. Use a stool softener and don't panic. Another effect if you liked drinking like I did it pretty much killed the enjoyment. One glass of wine might be okay but beer feels off because of the carbonation. People after bariatric surgery often drop carbonated drinks for the same reason.

I followed the standard schedule 2.5 mg for four weeks then 5 then 7.5 and so on up to 15 mg. Kept losing from 273 pounds down to a stall at 190. Tried every six days then every five with only a few more pounds off. Went back to weekly tirz and added 2.5 mg reta midweek. That worked and I'm now at 175 aiming for 165. No sides on tirz but some GERD on reta. Needed Dulcolax and Miralax to keep things moving.

I transfer the contents of my four monthly factory pens into one sterile 5 ml syringe by inserting the pen needle into the syringe exit and activating the pen. The 5 ml size handles the vigorous squirt and foam. After the foam settles I move the liquid to a cartridge so I can adjust doses with my pen. The first try missed the opening and went everywhere but I only made that mistake once. Other ways exist to open the factory cartridge with plenty of videos showing the steps.

The reflux or GERD or whatever you call it. At night after taking blood pressure meds and other pills it felt like they were stuck in my throat and sometimes hard to swallow. Now I take famotidine morning and night and it's back to normal. The swallowing trouble had me worried though.

I used brand name Zep for about a year to a year and a half. The first three or four weeks like clockwork 36 hours after the shot and again when I went to 5 mg I got really sick with nausea projectile vomiting and diarrhea for about 24 hours then fine. After a six month insurance break I restarted with single dose vials instead of the auto pen. I tried to use every last drop and ended up with an extra 0.5 mg for 3 mg total and regretted it. I got so sick I threw my back out from vomiting. I halved the next dose and when I switch to reta I'll titrate much more slowly.

Anyone else notice red wine tastes off after starting Tirz? I just got back and had my first glass since beginning three months ago. It was an opened bottle so I figured it was stale. Tried a fresh bottle tonight and nope still not great. This might be enough to push me toward Reta. Does Reta avoid this problem?

SlowCinder73archiveMar 12

My research rat gets a hard bump and pain at the injection site more than 48 hours later on Reta under 1 mg. Other rats from the same batch had no sides.

Red wine isn't enjoyable anymore. It doesn't taste bad exactly but it doesn't taste good either. Manhattans are less appealing because of the sweet vermouth. Other cocktails are still fine. Overall drinking has dropped partly from watching diet but even on nights off there's less desire. No big change noticed with other foods or drinks.

PatientCompass47archiveMar 12

A little indigestion early on that Tums handled. Nothing after the first month or two.

PlainTimber26archiveMar 12

Started at 2.5 mg with strong nausea for 24-48 hours after dosing the first three weeks. Recently went to 3.75 mg and had the worst constipation ever. The urge for Diet Coke disappeared after a 20 year three-a-day habit. Can't finish a glass of wine at happy hour anymore either.

CopperSignal27archiveMar 13

After a year of bad nausea and malaise on low dose Ozempic at 0.8 mg a week I had almost no sides moving up to 15 mg a week of tirz in a month. Occasional nausea and one weird skin episode. Used small frequent doses though I'm not suggesting that approach. Side effect responses seem very individual.

WarmHarbour28archiveMar 13

How did you split the 15 mg weekly into multiple doses? Wondering if a more precise split or bump later in the week would help. Haven't decided what's best for me yet. Thanks.

CopperSignal27archiveMar 13

Because of nausea on Ozempic and finding second day dosing helped a bit I kept the same pattern while building tirz over a month. Expected tirz to be only slightly better for nausea and need a lower dose but it was much easier on the stomach than expected. The higher dose would have cost too much so I found this forum. Still on every other day dosing partly because three day or twice weekly is easier to mess up and partly from habit. Probably has fewer sides. Swapping to weekly I'd be careful since I don't know what a full 15 mg dose would do. Currently on 4.5 mg tirz every two days plus 1.4 mg reta every two days. More frequent dosing mainly reduces sides or allows faster increases.

BlueAlder28archiveMar 13

Another possible side effect cigars don't taste the same anymore. Similar to the red wine thing not terrible but an off flavor compared to what I remember from three months ago when I had my last one.

WryBramble37archiveMar 13

I started the low dose of that first medication and stayed on it for three months. Hunger went down but bathroom troubles showed up as constipation. Around week two there was a single episode of loose stools probably from the sudden effect of starting treatment. Fatigue hit hard until I began eating properly and taking in enough fluids or mixing electrolyte powder into my drinks. Those bowel problems stuck around until I changed over to the other option. Somehow things feel normal again even with bigger meals and the scale has stayed put. That switch turned out great.

WarmMarble75archiveMar 16

Typical constipation and nausea but manageable with meds and supplements. One big unexpected effect is tirz takes away my chronic neck pain and headaches. I'm grateful but it's rough the day before the shot when the tirz wears off and the pain returns full force.
