Summary

who have people told about using GLP-1 medications like retatrutide

Forum users report a wide range of disclosure choices, from telling only immediate family to being open with anyone who asks about their weight loss. Most keep sourcing details private and frame results as diet, exercise, or keto when speaking to casual contacts. Reactions from those told are usually supportive, though some users avoid sharing to prevent judgment or having prior natural progress dismissed.

i'm wondering which people in your life know you're taking these GLP-1 drugs. Have you mentioned it to friends, relatives, your significant other, kids, work colleagues, or your physician? Maybe you're keeping it to yourself mostly? For me, just three very close friends are in the know. I had already dropped about 20 kg on my own before beginning with Reta, and since starting two weeks ago I've shed another 2.5 kg after a long plateau. That's why I'm cautious – I don't want folks to credit the medication for everything and dismiss the effort I made beforehand.

RustSparrow51archiveJun 29

i'm telling no one. only my immediate family knows because i have to keep them from touching my stuff. i've been on reta since last december along with other things but i'm pausing now for an upcoming procedure and travel. when friends and family ask about the weight loss i say i'm doing keto and intermittent fasting, which i've actually been doing for over seven years on top of everything else.

QuietThistle43archiveJun 29

at first i stayed pretty quiet but now i'm fairly open with anyone who comments on the change. the health benefits are so strong, even just on tirzepatide, that i think people should know about this medication. i've only told a select few about the other compounds though.

NorthWillow14archiveJun 29

i'm pretty open about it. a lot of people i know are already on these through their doctor so it doesn't feel that unusual anymore.

BrightSparrow36archiveJun 29

i have a close friend of twenty years who has struggled with weight and tried similar things before. we are very close and she lived with me until recently. after she moved i started one of these and lost fifty pounds. when she visited last week and mentioned gaining more weight i told her what i was doing and offered to send some home with her. she said she would think about it but didn't bring it up again and i didn't push. i also mentioned telehealth options.

LevelAlder29archiveJun 29

i've told my spouse and my best friend of twenty years. spouse needed to know because of the joint account while i was on compounded versions, and the friend because of a retreat where all medications had to be disclosed. both were supportive. i've mentioned plans for other compounds to my spouse but haven't gone into sourcing details yet. i have more risk tolerance than my spouse.

i'm not hiding but i'm not announcing it everywhere either. i've told my doctor, my partner, and random internet strangers. when people ask how i'm losing weight i say it's from eating better and working out more, with the medication helping. if they have follow-up questions i answer them.

RustKettle57archiveJun 29

i personally don't care if people judge me. i'm very open about it. the same people who judge you for taking these are the ones who would say you should have lost weight if you had a heart attack. if they really care they'll just be happy you're getting healthier.

AmberCinder46archiveJun 29

I'm pretty open when it comes to my slimming process. The story I share shifts according to whoever happens to be questioning me. Some get told I stick to wholesome meals plus extra exercise, while others hear me gush that those imported mystical supplements are totally amazing. From my personal angle both accounts check out.

PlainAnchor17archiveJun 29

i told you guys here and that's it. no one else needs to know since they wouldn't have an informed opinion anyway.

Initially it was solely for my spouse yet these days I pass it around without concern and a few reimburse enough to balance expenses without overcharging like middlemen do. Watching acquaintances make gains feels good too. Comparing test outcomes together adds enjoyment.

SlowLedger31archiveJun 29

screw them. you have a limited number of comfortable decades. anything that makes life more comfortable is worth considering. in a hundred fifty years no one will remember me anyway. society at every level won't do it for you so live like it.

CopperPebble48archiveJun 29

I started by sharing with just my spouse, children, and their partners. These days I'm more open about it. I avoid spreading the word widely, yet when people notice my reduced weight and question the approach, I mention the GLP medications. When they further question the expense, which occurs in most cases, I disclose the alternative option solely to trusted individuals. To everyone else I indicate that it comes through remote healthcare.

SteadyQuill55archiveJun 29

i told everyone who would listen and even posted about it on facebook. i'm not ashamed in most areas except whether i'm smart enough, so i figured going loud and proud might help cover for people who feel more vulnerable.

PlainAlder11archiveJun 30

my oldest son knows because he introduced me to them. he's into fitness, works as a nurse, and is with the fire department where many guys use similar compounds.

SteadySparrow75archiveJun 30

the older i get the less i worry about most things. it's like any of my hobbies. eventually someone mentions it and then i can talk about it.

QuietThistle70archiveJun 30

when people ask about my weight loss i say diet and supplements. no one has ever asked what kind of supplements i inject. i'm not trying to be an authority or push it on others and i don't want to mentor people who might not follow instructions well. i can't picture explaining mixing powder and injecting it to the people i know.

GreyPebble50archiveJun 30

recently at a family gathering everyone commented on my weight loss of 115 pounds over the past year. i told them diet, exercise and the medication. i shared my experience with reta. one cousin asked if i was embarrassed to admit using a GLP-1. i asked why when so many people are on them. then four other cousins admitted they were also on them but hadn't said so before. one woman said she felt like a failure after only losing four pounds with diet and exercise until her doctor recommended the medication.

PatientBeacon57archiveJun 30

i've mentioned it to random people at the airport bar, bowling alley, weddings and other places. usually i say i've lost weight recently, they ask if it's these medications, i say yes, and they reply they've used them too. some even mention reta. none knew about alternative sourcing and all were excited to hear about options. not one person was judgmental. i make sure they know to do their own research.

KeenMarble16archiveJun 30

i haven't told a single person and never will unless they share first. i've discussed the topic of these compounds and it's surprising how honest people get when they don't know you use them. no one in my circle would understand and i'm open about everything else so this stays private.

the progression goes like this. tell your friends. some don't know much about it so you give them some. then it starts cutting into your own supply. then you end up teaching them about it and hearing their stories about side effects or quick improvements. pick your path.

SlowAnchor19archiveJun 30

my close family and my partner know along with a coworker or two. i'm open about it but i don't volunteer the information. i just don't have the energy to care what others think. the people whose opinions matter wouldn't be negative anyway. people who punch down don't have anything i want.

SlowCinder33archiveJun 30

I was the final family member to begin using this medication, so sharing the news with relatives came easily. My physician learned about it recently and reacted positively. I prefer not to mention where I'm obtaining it from to most people, though I might encourage my sibling to consider an alternative option since her plan no longer covers it and the compounded version is too expensive for her. As for colleagues and acquaintances, I doubt I'll share anything. Being the heavier person in the office means I'd rather avoid any unnecessary attention or criticism.

WarmSparrow60archiveJun 30

my answer to this has changed over time as my confidence grew. at first i just said i quit drinking. then i added diet changes and workouts. i felt guilty not giving full disclosure. now down over a hundred pounds i don't care anymore. if asked i say i'm on the trinity stack and when they ask what that is i reference the matrix movie.

NorthSparrow68archiveJun 30

It doesn't bother me if others discover why my body changed or what explanations they invent for it. Cheating can't exist during this kind of fight!!!

RustBramble70archiveJun 30

what an idiotic reaction but your response was perfect.

RustBramble70archiveJun 30

i've been pretty open with anyone who mentions the change and asks how i did it. i tell them it's from my introduction to injectable compounds. reactions are what you'd expect: some disbelief, skepticism, surprise that i'd take the risk. i might mention the many people sharing experiences and research sites but mostly i can't be bothered explaining unless they're interested.

i don't have anyone to tell besides my wife and kids. i'm already in shape and just experimenting with reta.

BluePebble18archiveJun 30

i didn't volunteer any information but if they asked i told them.

GreyAlder39archiveJun 30

the media had been covering ozempic and then mounjaro and more recently retatrutide. i looked into reta and found forums and research sites. officially i'm taking mounjaro. since it's not covered for me there's no record of purchases. for the vials i have a ready explanation about buying directly from a factory through old pharmaceutical contacts. it's plausible given my past work.

IronCinder88archiveJun 30

i've only told people i know also struggle with weight. anyone who just compliments the loss gets a simple thank you and mention of cleaning up diet and cutting beer. that's true but the medication helped a lot. i'll never tell anyone about the other compounds. they're just vitamins and supplements. i don't want attention on how obsessed i am with having options on hand.

BlueAlder28archiveJun 30

I mentioned to both my physicians, the general practitioner for work exams and the heart specialist, that my slimming came from skipping meals in a timed pattern. That's accurate to a degree. I avoided eating between evening and midday. Both were pleased by my response along with how it turned out, so they didn't inquire further. To some acquaintances I mentioned purchasing a guide about mental suggestion techniques, though my inability to stay serious makes me doubt they took it seriously. My spouse, children, and several trusted buddies are aware of the actual situation. One of them had already started the same approach. Several others decided to try it too.

GreyAlder46archiveJul 1

only one person knows besides my wife. a friend of ours who was already on tirzepatide because i was so sick the first few days and wanted to ask about side effects. she said that's how you know it's working. i'm very sensitive to it. i'm on a low dose now and most gi sides are gone except constipation and low appetite. i almost quit but decided against it because it lowers my blood pressure and glucose and i still need to lose thirty pounds. my wife knows and we get them from the same place. i don't see a need to tell anyone else unless they're also on these and want to compare experiences.
