Summary

what happens when you accidentally overdose on retatrutide due to vial overfill and high concentration mixing

One user mixed a 60 mg retatrutide vial with only 2 ml bac water for 30 mg/ml concentration and pulled what felt like an oversized dose after also taking compounded tirzepatide. They reported feeling extremely stimulated but experienced no stomach issues and chose to fast with electrolytes. Others clarified that overfill scales the actual milligrams delivered regardless of dilution strength while higher concentrations simply magnify any measurement error. Discussion also covered muscle loss during fasting and preferred reconstitution ratios.

I took my first dose from a 60 mg retatrutide bottle this morning and couldn't recall the COA overfill info. I added just 2 ml of bac water so the mix came out to 30 mg per ml. I tried drawing 5 ml but it already feels like too much. I had taken 7 ml of compounded tirz on Friday morning so the total is higher than planned. I'm going to fast for two days with plenty of electrolytes and magnesium. I had a good bowel movement already so let's see how it goes.

Your units and dose numbers seem mixed up to me.

Still looking for the COA on that RT60 batch. Watch out because too much GLP-1 can feel pretty rough.

This is my first time using a 30 mg per ml bottle. With tirz I used 3 ml for a 60 mg vial at 20 mg per ml so any overfill mattered less. I've overdosed on these before but my body handles them fine now with no stomach trouble or bathroom problems. Still feeling everything running at full speed this morning though.

RustPebble88archiveJan 19

I only notice effects on day two or three when I draw too much. Good luck riding it out.

Concentration itself doesn't reduce the dosage change caused by overfill. Diluting more only makes the milligram error smaller relative to how accurately you can measure the volume you pull.

AmberCompass48archiveJan 19

No it doesn't, but at higher concentration the same overfill amount changes a single dose more. That's supposedly why compounders avoid 30 mg per ml or stronger even though they could.

LevelThistle44archiveJan 19

Adding more bac water only helps by making the liquid easier to measure accurately. Overfill still delivers the same extra milligrams no matter the dilution. Same for measurement mistakes: a given percentage error in volume produces a larger or smaller milligram error depending on concentration.

AmberCompass48archiveJan 19

I see your point but if the vial actually holds 65 mg instead of 60 and I'm using only 2 ml instead of 3 ml then the dose error grows. I don't stress much over exact amounts with these meds anyway.

Psyllium husk, keep taking plenty of it. Good luck.

I take metamucil too but not during a fast. Thanks for the reminder though.

How did it turn out after a couple days? Ready for the did-you-die jokes.

Not using a pen? Pens work well with 60 mg vials and 3 ml bac water. I'm still on a low dose myself but that setup looks convenient once my dose increases.

I take metamucil but skip it while fasting. Does fasting cause muscle loss?

RustPebble88archiveJan 22

Muscle loss starts between 33 and 36 hours without protein or lifting. You can check with strength tests or a dexa scan. A single 24-hour fast every two weeks seems fine according to studies.

The autophagy benefit might outweigh that anyway. Some people fast for 30 days straight but the muscle loss would be noticeable.

I teach stretch and strength classes five days a week plus bands and balls. I also lift weights three times a week and ride my e-bike a lot. I don't see muscle loss; my arms are getting defined. Early on I lost some until I added the exercise routine. Down to 251 from 330.

No major side effects, just eating very little. These meds have been easy on me even when I occasionally go way over. Still alive.

My brother does five-day fasts and looks great while still training. I don't feel comfortable going that long, maybe just because I'm attached to food.

What do you mean by safe? You'd just feel really hungry the first few days and drop weight.

I've done it and lost weight. Main thing is keeping electrolytes up.

I like adding the same number of bac units as the vial milligrams. For a 50 mg vial I add 50 units so the math stays simple and doses stay small.

LevelThistle44archiveFeb 2

You add only 0.5 ml to a 50 mg vial? That's a very strong concentration.

KeenPebble77archiveFeb 2

I couldn't find studies on how different concentrations perform. First vial I used 1 ml bac so doses were double the number. Switched to 1:1 and saw no change.

LevelThistle44archiveFeb 2

Some peptides need extra dilution to slow breakdown but I'm not sure that applies here. Tiny volumes are more affected by small measuring mistakes. I choose dilution so my normal dose lands between 0.1 and 0.5 ml.

You probably meant 0.7 ml not 7 ml right? That would still be around 20 mg of tirz which is a large but workable dose once you're used to it. Double-check your numbers and consider a peptide calculator.
