Summary

how long to keep cutting with GLP compounds before maingaining, and whether further fat loss or added calories and volume will better reveal abs

OP insists on three more months of deficit plus core work and claims visible ab progress, while others report navy-method BF estimates, mixed reta and sema dosing, and posture-focused routines. The thread shifts to warnings that staying under 10 percent is unsustainable and recommends lean bulking to add muscle instead. Hostility escalates when OP dismisses critics as toxic or obese, leading to meta discussion about attention-seeking and calls to block the poster.

What this discussion establishesWhere people disagree

whether non-obese users should continue GLP compounds at all versus the risk-benefit tradeoff of aggressive cuts

Still open

true current body-fat percentage and whether extra training volume or calories would produce better ab visibility

Nothing here is advice.

Down 12.6 kg total which is 27.8 lbs and my waist is 13 cm smaller or 5.1 inches. Still feels like it isn't enough and I'm far from where I want to be, probably just perfectionism messing with my head. Carrying on anyway. Current weight 65.6 kg or 144.6 lbs at 178 cm or 5'10". On 5 mg of reta each week right now. Most stomach issues have faded except occasional nausea so I'm trying ginger for that. Happy to answer anything.

BlueHarbour24archiveJan 4

Solid progress, planning to keep increasing the reta dose or what's the target right now?

GreenPebble53archiveJan 4
↳ replying to @BlueHarbour24

Appreciate it. Staying at 5 mg while it keeps working. If hunger starts returning I'll move up to 6 or 7.

ClearHarbour45archiveJan 4

Dude you're probably under 9 percent body fat already, what exactly are you chasing?

BlueHarbour24archiveJan 4
↳ replying to @GreenPebble53

But what's the actual goal here? You're already pretty lean like Airborne Daddy pointed out.

GreenPebble53archiveJan 4
↳ replying to @ClearHarbour45

No way, I'm nowhere close to 9 percent. More like 17 or 18. No abs showing and still have love handles.

ClearHarbour45archiveJan 4
↳ replying to @GreenPebble53

Your abs are definitely starting to show through. Whatever works for you though. I'd be happy with 25 percent on myself.

GreenPebble53archiveJan 4
↳ replying to @BlueHarbour24

Aim is 13 or 14 percent body fat or even lower, maybe down to 10 or 11, get rid of the love handles as much as possible and see some visible abs.

PatientPebble85archiveJan 4

Keep the reta dose the same and add some tesa for eight weeks.

GreenPebble53archiveJan 4
↳ replying to @PatientPebble85

How did tesa go for you? Not something I've looked into with peptides but willing to hear more.

PatientPebble85archiveJan 4

It boosts growth hormone to hit abdominal fat and can raise testosterone too. Been used safely for years with HIV patients dealing with fat buildup around the midsection. Cycles are usually eight weeks on and eight off. Some water retention happens during the cycle but it drops after and leaves you looking more defined in the abs, or so people say.

SharpFenwick93archiveJan 4

You'll probably look leaner if you spend more time on resistance training.

Nice work, solid results. So it actually works. I switched from triz to ret and got nervous because I could eat again with the sides and hunger coming back. Did the hunger ever settle down for you and when? Being hungry all the time isn't for me.

LevelThistle44archiveJan 4
↳ replying to @BrightAnchor18

How long on reta and at what dose? Hunger control is more of a tirz thing while reta works differently and that effect usually shows up at higher doses.

BrightAnchor18archiveJan 4

Just under three weeks but my friend reconstituted it for me without saying the mg amount. I measured the ml later and tried to guess the mg based on grey market prices plus markup. Was on triz for twelve months at 15 mg for the last four weeks. Friend said half a unit but that was the usual thinking for someone not used to this. Turned out to mean five units. Starting doses are usually point two five to point five but that wouldn't fit where I am. Guessing it started around ten mg with two point two two five ml volume so roughly two ml to keep the math simple. Followed the instructions to avoid any issues. Day one five units and nothing happened, still starving. Day two the female testosterone effect hit with even more hunger and I was ready to eat anything. Added ten units that day and still nothing. Day five when he said to dose again if the stomach could handle ten but I'm different and don't have exact mg info so I'm going blind. Tried fifteen on day five. Day six nothing so added ten units and on day seven it finally kicked in. Sligh

PatientPebble85archiveJan 4

Try one mg of reta subq on Monday Wednesday Friday or stay at three mg per week for at least two months before changing anything else.

PlainKettle41archiveJan 4

What's your daily calorie intake and are you doing strength training?

BlueTimber78archiveJan 5

Going for single digit body fat without adding muscle? What's the point? This looks like a sign of body dysmorphia.

WarmQuill37archiveJan 5
↳ replying to @GreenPebble53

Just want to note that photos like these can be misleading because they don't show water weight. Looking at the two shots of the guy with shoulder tattoos the change isn't fat it's water. He has the same body fat in both. Those were likely taken about a week apart. Don't get caught up in male body dysmorphia and end up harming yourself. Being too thin is riskier than carrying extra weight. Not criticizing you at all, just genuine worry.

GreenPebble53archiveJan 5
↳ replying to @WarmQuill37

Let me explain gently: those aren't before and after shots. They're just body fat reference images. Have a good one.

GreenPebble53archiveJan 5
↳ replying to @BlueTimber78

One, where did I say I was aiming for single digits? Two, you're critiquing a stranger's physique in bad lighting with no pump and minimal flexing. Pretty sure you're the one showing body dysmorphia signs. By the way here's what a normal average male looks like in case you forgot.

GreenPebble53archiveJan 5

Around sixteen hundred calories most days and three full body sessions each week.

GreenPebble53archiveJan 5
↳ replying to @BrightAnchor18

Thanks. Hunger and cravings dropped right away but it never fully stops hunger. I'm just not desperate for food even on low calories. Without it I'd be fighting hard with my current setup.

GreenPebble53archiveJan 5
↳ replying to @SharpFenwick93

Don't think that's how it works. I already train.

WarmQuill37archiveJan 5
↳ replying to @GreenPebble53

First off I don't need anyone holding my hand little boy and if I did it wouldn't be yours. Second you're wrong. To look like the top photos bodybuilders dehydrate heavily and they talk about it openly. The veins popping is a giveaway. Plus those reference pics come from rippedbody.com which is selling something. Either way I don't care. If you want to push yourself too far and hurt your health chasing a look that's been misrepresented go for it.

PlainKettle41archiveJan 5
↳ replying to @GreenPebble53

At that calorie level are you hitting your protein target? Also what kind of workouts exactly so I can give better input.

GreenPebble53archiveJan 5
↳ replying to @PlainKettle41

I try to reach roughly one hundred grams of protein each day. The text below came from an automated rewrite of my sessions after translation.
On the first training day I start with dumbbell presses on an inclined bench using only a partial arc at forty five degrees. Next comes a bent forward row done with a neutral grip. Then a kickback move for the rear. Seated rope pulls to the face follow. One sided leg extensions happen from a seated spot. Standing calf work gets done on a single side. Finally a y raise with one arm starts from behind the back.
The second session has chest supported rows with dumbbells on a slanted bench. Deficit push ups use handles for extra depth. Weighted back extensions hold the load at chest height. A dumbbell pullover comes after that. Pec deck flies are next. Straight bar pushdowns target the triceps. Cable curls on the preacher bench finish it.
Day three begins with dumbbell reverse lunges. Neutral grip pull ups follow. Seated chest presses use a hammer grip. Wide grip rows happen seated on cables. Standing cable flyes cross over with focus on the upper chest area. Wide grip upright rows use a barbell.
Extra isolation work includes chest supported cable laterals to the side plus one armed middle delt raises on cables.

One you mentioned wanting ten or eleven so off by one percent my mistake. Two I'm not judging I'm seeing someone who's already visibly very lean. At five ten and one forty four that's extremely light. And you want to lose more so yes I'm convinced it's body dysmorphia. By the way I know what average looks like it's me and I'm still overweight by most standards. Congrats on the loss though.

GreenPebble53archiveJan 5
↳ replying to @BlueTimber78

If you could ease up on the body shaming for a minute I'd appreciate it. Not sure what your problem is.

PlainKettle41archiveJan 5
↳ replying to @GreenPebble53

A few more questions. How many steps daily on average? Any cardio mixed in with the strength work? Seeing gains on your lifts?

GreenPebble53archiveJan 5

No cardio at the moment. Steps around ten k plus daily. I noticed some progress maybe five weeks ago and before that but not lately. Other meds threw off my strength and how I felt in the gym but that's improved a lot now.

SharpFenwick93archiveJan 5
↳ replying to @GreenPebble53

I can confirm it does work that way. Several people here are genuinely trying to help but it seems you don't want it. If visual leanness is the goal the safer approach at your current weight is training more often, harder, closer to failure, higher protein and better sleep. As muscles grow the fat will appear less even without losing more because the muscle will create more shape.

BlueTimber78archiveJan 5
↳ replying to @GreenPebble53

Sorry if it came across as shaming that wasn't the point. Maybe a language thing. I'm concerned your current weight is already low for health and you want to drop more. Trying to show you're underweight and aiming lower is risky. Not sure what else to add. I've learned when someone won't listen anyway. Good luck.

CopperSignal33archiveJan 5
↳ replying to @GreenPebble53

If you want to get bigger focus on compound leg lifts and upper body moves that give a big stretch in the concentric part. Swap straight bar tricep pushdown for skull crushers on a bench to get that long stretch lowering behind the head then push to full extension without bringing the weight forward over your head at about forty five degrees above or behind and lower slowly. Heavy for three sets of ten to twelve. Same with standing cable lateral raise get the stretch on the way up. Increase protein for recovery. A progressive overload plan would help too.

PlainKettle41archiveJan 5
↳ replying to @GreenPebble53

From what you've shared you need more calories especially protein around one hundred forty grams at your body weight. Slowly add about one hundred calories per meal over a few weeks and check energy levels. Use strength as the measure if lifts improve you're on track. Adjust the workout too by adding one compound move per session for five sets of eight to twelve reps keeping one or two in reserve or going to failure safely. Rest two to three minutes between sets so heart rate stays down and you're not signaling endurance instead. Add a core or secondary move for the muscles like pairing barbell bench with incline dumbbell flies or hanging leg raises for core. Time to move from cardio style to strength building for a better base.

Congrats on the results so far. I've also struggled to judge my own body fat from scales and photos so I got bioelectrical impedance analysis. Might be worth adding that or a DEXA scan to know if you're near the ten to eleven percent target.

GreenPebble53archiveJan 16
↳ replying to @SlowBeacon94

Thanks. Bioelectrical wasn't accurate for me it read ten percent when I was visually around eighteen. Also ten percent isn't barely visible abs.

GreenPebble53archiveJan 16
↳ replying to @PlainKettle41

Thanks for the input but I adjust training now to manage hyperlordosis and other posture issues. There are lots of details on what's optimal versus risky with my situation.

BrightPebble95archiveJan 16

Lots of really solid advice in here honestly. Keep an open mind.

PlainKettle41archiveJan 16
↳ replying to @GreenPebble53

That info would have changed how advice gets offered for your case. Core strength work should target the abs, glutes and back extensors. Add mobility drills for the hips since tightness there often drives the issue. Planks, bridges, dead bugs and 90/90 stretches work well. Once stronger, weighted side bends and hanging leg raises can come in. The main rule is to pick moves that stay pain-free and scale them back if needed.

Body-fat percentage shows up differently across individuals and builds. On some men ten percent gives faint abs while others get more cuts at the same number. No single description covers every case.

WarmThistle66archiveJan 30

Buddy, your appearance is already impressive and I see no reason for additional slimming down. Think about your aims and the end result you desire. With the way you're working out, muscle growth must be what you're after. Continuing to reduce calories wouldn't make sense then. Really though, you appear solid.

GreyPebble50archiveFeb 6

Over the previous twelve months I've used reta alongside regular weigh-ins each week. I've shed a hundred pounds already yet still have twenty left to lose. I've tried varying amounts and sometimes added a bit of sema during plateaus. Higher amounts brought on stomach issues though. Recently I had an ai review all my data and was shocked to see six milligrams performed best overall. Weekly at that level it averaged just over four pounds lost. Four milligrams came close at four pounds. Seven gave 2.8 while ten only managed two. Mixing four milligrams reta with five hundred micrograms sema yielded 1.9. Eight milligrams dropped to 1.7 and everything else including twelve was lower still.

PatientFenwick39archiveFeb 8

You've done well on that intro post. From your stats it seems like you're nearing the target level already, maybe sitting right around twelve percent at the moment. Abs not popping yet, even though they're faintly there, likely traces back to body type plus needing extra work on the midsection. Pushing lower could sharpen the look but leaves a person drained and uncomfortable. Holding single digits long term without any chemical help just doesn't hold up from my experience. Reaching clear definition might involve running a modest surplus while keeping lifts intense and adding core volume for several months before trimming back down over a shorter stretch. Those side by side images rarely line up anyway because the conditions and lighting vary too much and some subjects could be using extras. A scan would clear up the actual number instead.

PatientAlder37archiveFeb 8

Folks mean well when they chime in here, buddy. What you're dealing with matches what some of us gals label as that lean but soft look. You're trim yet lack the added mass and shape to reach your goal. Boosting the dose further won't make a difference, only dedicated effort toward real muscle size and tone will. Sure I'm carrying plenty of extra weight myself, but from what I've learned it's no longer about the scale or body fat levels. What you require is more overall power, not the kind a serious lifter chases, just enough to stand out. It won't come quick, though even modest gains in your top lifts tend to become noticeable in the mirror.

SteadyHarbour58archiveFeb 9

I get annoyed seeing folks guess their fat percentage by sight alone when an equation actually gives better results with those numbers. That naval approach needs just a couple of readings and turns up from a quick web search for the calculator. Your gains so far look solid and I like the push toward even lower levels.

RustMarble78archiveFeb 19
↳ replying to @GreenPebble53 (opening post)

It looks like you're measuring your own size against men who already carry far more muscle than what you have. Your current leanness seems fine to me. From my own experience bumping up protein and hitting the weights hard four days every week is what brought me closer to that level of definition.

GreenPebble53archiveFeb 19
↳ replying to @PatientFenwick39

Thanks for sharing your thoughts. Right now I'm holding to my current approach. I'll finish three additional months focused on fat loss before moving into a longer period of maintenance with some muscle building. I've gotten serious about training my abdominal and core muscles lately which has brought clear progress. The issue boils down to not having enough leanness yet.
