Eager to have the whole thing finished. This counts as my third operation inside a single year. The earlier two involved redoing a total knee and then taking out the metal from a tibia-fibula break. Now I'm getting the full knee replacement. It will feel good to finally have both legs the same length after seventeen years of the two-inch difference. The doctor before this one didn't seem to care.
Tomorrow is surgery
how does recovery go after a third knee operation in under a year following years of leg length difference
The original poster reports the surgery itself went smoothly but left them in significant pain managed with antibiotics, blood thinners and pain medication plus two other compounds. They note this is their third procedure on the same leg in less than a year and express hope it will be the last. Other participants offer support and share their own multiple joint replacement histories; the thread stays supportive with no disputes.
What this discussion establishes- third surgery on the leg in under a year after tib-fib fracture, hardware removal and prior knee revision
- two-inch leg length difference corrected after seventeen years
- post-op pain present but expected to ease with prescribed medications
- two scars now on the operated leg
- community responses focus on well-wishes and personal multi-surgery experiences
Nothing here is advice.
Hope the healing goes quickly and the doctor does a solid job.
Wishing you the best, I've already experienced three knee replacement operations.
Hope everything turns out fine and recovery is quick. Hard to imagine living with that difference for seventeen years.
Prayers for steady hands on everyone in the room and for fast healing. ππΌππΌππΌ
Today's going to go fine. Hoping the pain stays under control, healing is complete and quick, and the two inches are fixed. π§‘π§‘π§‘
Love and healing energy coming your way. Hope the surgeon is rested and fed and you recover at super speed.
Broke the two bones down in my lower leg and also ran into trouble with the joints above on each side before getting the metal implants taken out.
Everything went fine. Still hurting quite a bit, but it won't last forever.
Everything is fine. Still hurting but it will pass. The two compounds I take should start helping soon.
Thanks. Everything is fine.
Doing okay I guess. Lots of pain but it will pass.
Some early studies suggest certain antibiotics might aid healing after operations, though results are still early and the drugs can leave people feeling off.
Sorry for the delay checking in. Pain and extra sleep kept me offline. Today feels decent though. The only downside is ending up with two scars after three operations on this leg. Taking the two compounds to help recovery.
Right now I take medicine against bacteria as well as something to thin blood and ease pain.
Hope this finally fixes the leg issues for good. π β€οΈ
Glad you're past the operation. Keep going. ππ
Best wishes for quick healing. I've supported my mom through several joint replacements and had some myself plus ankle work, so I understand what you're facing.
Left leg had the knee replacement and revision. Right leg had the fracture, hardware removal, and now this replacement. Hoping it's the final one.
We could use a support emoji. Heart eyes feel off when someone is going through surgery.
