Reta or tirz?

17 replies15 peopleJul 13, 2026☆ Follow
Summary

Should I switch from low-dose reta to tirz to better control food noise without focusing on weight loss?

Users report mixed results with reta at 2-2.5 mg for food noise, with some still experiencing binges after months. Several note tirz provides stronger appetite and noise suppression even at moderate doses, while reta's effects on noise may require higher amounts and its glucagon activity prioritizes weight loss. Combinations of both are mentioned positively by some, but others found switching back to tirz alone restored control. Personal responses vary widely and data on noise specifically is limited.

Hi everyone! I've been on reta for the past 3.5 months trying to deal with constant food obsession. Weight loss wasn't the goal, just quieting the noise, so I've kept it around 2-2.5 mg a week. Still bingeing and the thoughts are there though. Not sure if switching to tirz would be better. My aim is only to stop the obsessive eating thoughts, nothing about dropping weight.

Not an expert but from what I understand of the three, sema and tirz were the usual choices when it came to stopping food noise.

Have you lost any weight at that low reta dose? If not much, it might be simpler to just increase the reta first. Not sure how you could reduce noise and binges without eating less and losing some weight though. Everyone says tirz works better for noise and hunger, but since reta drives more weight loss it can't really be weaker on appetite even with the extra energy burn from glucagon.

When I first started with peptides I didn't realize mixing tirz and reta wasn't recommended. I used both for three months and dropped 20 pounds; it was the best combo for me. I used to wake up two or three times a night to eat, but during that period I never even got up for snacks. Once I stopped both and tried them separately the noise returned and the midnight eating came back too.

Actual data shows it's reta by a wide margin.

I was on 10 mg tirz for three months and started swapping in reta slowly, 1 mg at a time, since it's supposed to be better. By the second week the noise and appetite came roaring back. I stuck with it but at week four on 6 mg tirz plus 4 mg reta I switched back. Now that I'm at 10 mg tirz again the appetite and noise are mostly gone. I'll stay on tirz for now since weight loss matters most to me.

Maybe. This is just from my own use of sema and reta. At 0.6 mg microdose sema quieted noise pretty well early on and even cut my sweet tooth. After three pins of 0.5 mg reta so far it hasn't touched the noise at all. Everyone reacts differently though, and reta might help once I raise the dose.

I'm doing 7.5 mg tirz on Fridays and 3 mg reta on Tuesdays. Plenty of people here stack them in different ways. You have to figure out what works for you. For food noise tirz looks like the clearer pick.

If food noise is the only concern, check out cagri or elora.

Most people say tirz suppresses appetite better, at least early on. Strong suppression often shows up within a day of the first dose. Reta's appetite effects seem to need higher doses like 4 mg weekly, which can be frustrating if you want quick results.

0.6 mg sema is a quarter of the max dose while 0.5 mg reta is only one twenty-fourth of its max. You were on a much higher relative amount of sema than reta.

Why use either of these just for food noise? Both were made for weight loss. Tirz hits GIP and GLP-1 while reta adds glucagon on top.

Actual data specifically on food noise? I checked the TRIUMPH-1 results and there's plenty of good info but nothing showing reta is far better than tirz at cutting noise. If anything the evidence points the other way. Reta does win on maximum weight loss if you can handle it, but not on noise.

It's fine to take both. Lots of people do. If you want the glucagon effect from reta but still need stronger noise control, adding tirz can help with that.

I chose tirz myself. Figured if I stalled later I could move to reta as the stronger option. Reta also cost more at the time. Too many unknowns to be sure it was the right call, but after 17 months in maintenance I haven't needed anything else and the 27 percent loss got me to goal.

At least you can probably say your choice wasn't wrong.

I'd strongly suggest switching to tirz if noise reduction is the priority.
