Summary

experiences with retatrutide at 12 mg or higher and why weight loss stalls after initial progress

Users report starting low and titrating to 10-12 mg over months, with early strong appetite suppression and weight drops that later slow or stop even as the dose rises. Several note that hidden calories from drinks and snacks explain plateaus more than the medication itself, while others mention adding a second agent or adjusting injection frequency. Side effects vary widely, with some feeling nothing at low doses and others getting nausea or sleep issues at higher ones. Alcohol tolerance changes for many, and body composition can improve even when the scale does not move.

What this discussion establishesWhere people disagree

Whether pushing past 12 mg is useful or whether most people should stay lower and add another compound instead

Still open

How much of the stall is due to metabolic adaptation versus inaccurate calorie estimates versus batch variation

Started at the end of September on half a milligram and went up by about half a milligram every week or two until reaching twelve. Not trying to race anyone to the highest amount. Early on the weight came off quickly and food noise stayed low, though I had frequent urination and occasional hard stools. Went from three hundred eight down to two hundred eighty by Christmas. Then a week of poor eating added eight pounds and it took six weeks to get back to two hundred eighty. While climbing from six milligrams at Christmas to twelve this week I only dropped another six or seven pounds. Diet has been solid except one cheat day, no real side effects except alcohol feels off. Body looks a little better even though the scale is flat. Food noise is lower than before but not gone. Started at three hundred eight, aiming for two hundred fifty, now at two hundred eighty after four and a half months. Has anyone else seen something similar? Thoughts on going above twelve milligrams?

On ten milligrams after five months and starting to notice food noise again toward the end of the week before the next shot. Never had that before so maybe tolerance is building. If it gets worse I might try a small amount of Cagri to see if it helps. Down fifty five pounds total and the last fifteen are proving the toughest. More trials at higher doses are coming but I do not know the current status.

Ten milligrams every six days plus one milligram of sema on top. Started logging calories because I thought I was around fifteen to eighteen hundred but realized a powerade and slim jim added nearly five hundred and two dark beers plus two double bourbons added another seven hundred. That explained why twenty one pounds came off and then nothing happened.

Man, I'm dying to grab a sports drink, some beef jerky, a couple dark ales, and two big whiskey pours at this moment.

LevelAlder78archiveFeb 9

Twelve milligrams would probably finish me off. Four months in and still only at three milligrams with almost no interest in food and random waves of nausea.

Mixed drinks seem easier to handle than beer or wine on this medication.

Sorry to hear that. I only got nauseous when I ignored the medication and tried to have a full night of drinking.

Some people get almost nothing from the baby doses. I usually start in the middle and move up fast. Dentist has to double the numbing because painkillers never worked well for me either. Started sema at one milligram, tirz at eight, and this at five. Not the strongest responder.

I will bring my acoustic guitar to go with your steel drum.

Started moving up fairly quickly but the effect has not kept going. Switched to a new batch to check if that was the issue after finishing the previous one. Maybe something was missing in the last batch.

That source should be reliable based on group testing results.

Wine gives the worst hangover the next day but recovery is quickest.

IronThistle53archiveFeb 11

Since starting this I switched from strong eight percent IPAs to gin and soda. Fewer calories, easier to control how much I drink, and I am learning about different gins.

BlueMarble65archiveFeb 12

Anything past two drinks makes blood sugar drop too low.

SteadyLedger61archiveFeb 12

First time hearing about someone going that high that fast. I am still on two point five milligrams after ten months and have lost sixteen or seventeen kilos.

Gin drinks also did not cause the same issues for me.

I am almost good enough to play with someone. Maybe another month and I can jam. Played Cyndi Lauper's True Colors for my last short recital and working on a Regina Spektor song for next week.

Starting out on half a milligram already seems like plenty, especially when I picture what twelve would feel like later. πŸ˜‚ Food thoughts don't bother me much to begin with, so I'm crossing my fingers that this dose is doing something and I'll step on the scale in a few days.

That was exactly how it felt when I began in October. Hunger stayed low until around five milligrams and each increase after that was less noticeable.

SharpCompass52archiveFeb 12

At four milligrams a week split between Monday and Thursday. Down twelve and a half pounds in five weeks. Planning to go to six milligrams at week seven. Twelve would probably make me lose weight like the guy in Thinner.

BrightSignal73archiveFeb 12

Twelve milligrams feels like almost nothing after five months. Thinking about fifteen.

Does the higher heart rate not hurt your sleep? I had to drop back from twelve because sleep got bad with waking every other hour and night sweats. Backed off and will watch the weight. If it starts going up I may try low dose Cagri for hunger.

Ten milligrams every six days works out to about eleven point five to eleven point seven per week. Was trying to figure out how to move from ten to twelve using the vial sizes available.

ClearHarbour45archiveFeb 13

With a twenty milligram vial I add sixty units of bac water and thirty units gives ten milligrams. For a thirty milligram vial sixty units of bac water and twenty units gives ten milligrams.

CopperSignal27archiveFeb 13

Without height, age, weight history or prior GLP use it is hard to say for sure. Assuming a tallish average male around one point eight meters the current BMI is still thirty nine. Twenty eight pounds lost in that short time should not have caused major metabolic slowdown yet. Any intake under two thousand calories should still produce loss if fairly inactive. If the stall is under a month it could just be fluid shifts. Weighing everything eaten for a week would give a clearer picture because estimates are usually off.

Makes sense. Fifty years old, six foot two, started at three hundred eight now around two hundred eighty. The stall began right after the Christmas cheat week and around the time I added ipamorelin. Was at five to six milligrams before Christmas, now at twelve in week two trying to get the scale moving down again. Hit two hundred seventy seven just before Christmas, gained nine during the cheat week, then flat for a month. Back to two hundred eighty but not on the same downward slope even with the higher dose. Body composition feels improved though.

CopperSignal27archiveFeb 14

The ipamorelin is likely the cause. It can add muscle if you are lifting and also causes fluid retention, both of which keep the scale from showing fat loss.
