I can usually handle the whey isolate kind when dealing with sensitivities because it mostly has the protein and whatever tastes are mixed in, with hardly any lactose. It does cost quite a bit more though, while the plant ones are cheaper but don't pack as much protein into each scoop.
My kid asked me to grab a chocolate peanut butter protein beverage that ended up tasting pretty good. Still, I suspect lactose might be an issue for me because it feels heavy and stuck in my stomach. After a long bicycle trip, while I rested on a bench, I spun around to speak with my husband and almost threw up on him. I held it back just in time and saved him from the mess. That moment made it clear these drinks may not work well for me. A dairy-free option I tried before settled easier, yet its tastes stay limited to chocolate and vanilla, which feel plain. Plenty of similar beverages exist. Which ones do you like when dairy causes trouble?
