If the loose skin still feels thick it usually means fat cells inside are still holding triglycerides, even if some true loose skin is also present. You may have regained a little weight quickly after a big loss and the extra calories turned into stubborn fat under the skin because the body stores it there. A test is to track macros, stay at or below maintenance on fats, and watch if the belly skin starts to feel softer and more watery after a week. Too much salt can also make it look thicker, so sodium balance matters for how it appears.
Does anyone else have thick loose skin that looks bad? I read it can come from losing weight too quickly, visceral fat, low protein, lack of resistance work, or poor hydration. The first and last do not apply to me, but the middle two might because surgeries have kept me from training. I am recovering from one now and do not want to add more things to deal with. I hope to get back to exercise soon. If you dealt with this, what helped?
