Weight loss results and plateau strategies with tirzepatide and retatrutide

78 replies61 peopleJun 3, 2026☆ Follow
Summary

What weight loss outcomes and stall-breaking tactics are users reporting across these compounds and switches between them?

The thread establishes that users achieve highly variable losses ranging from 20 lbs in ten weeks to 60 lbs in eight months, with some adding a third compound or raising doses to address lingering food noise and stalls. Progress tracking via apps, resistance training, creatine use, and adjustments for vacations or missed doses are common alongside goals centered on body composition rather than scale weight alone. Replies focus on practical dosing questions and individual timelines, with some participants staying at current doses while others escalate.

What this discussion establishesWhere people disagree

Some users maintain steady doses while others escalate for continued results, with differing views on weekly loss expectations.

How much came off in week one, week two, and after that? Also wondering if the rate ever slowed or stayed steady the whole time.

LevelThistle44archiveJun 3

Began creatine at the end of April. No new Dexa scan yet but figure on three to six extra pounds from it.

AmberBeacon78archiveJun 3

Averaging 2.25 pounds each week and down about 25 pounds after twelve weeks. The pace has held pretty even. Some weeks show less because of family events but every single week still ends with a loss, even if tiny.

ClearLedger24archiveJun 3

15 pounds gone in 31 days on GLP. 100 pounds altogether.

PlainQuill53archiveJun 3

Down 135 pounds across three years. Around 80 of that came from low-dose tirz. Went up to 5 mg for a couple months, stopped completely for six months, then restarted at 2 mg. Planning to stay at 2 mg long term.

LevelBramble14archiveJun 3

43 pounds down in six and a half months on tirz.

PatientBeacon15archiveJun 3

Loss stayed very linear at 65 pounds over six months, roughly 11 pounds per month. Only holidays and a couple short vacations where injections paused caused any deviation. Most of it came from the appetite suppression.

IronLantern24archiveJun 3

Since January 5 2026 the average has been one to two pounds a week. Started reta at 205 and now at 172. Not tracking food closely or exercising daily, so the total could have been higher otherwise.

NorthQuill51archiveJun 3

Went from 220 down to 155 for a 65-pound drop over several years. Now chasing the last five pounds.

NorthQuill51archiveJun 3

These results are impressive. People are reaching goals that used to be out of reach. Big pharma gets plenty of criticism but sometimes the outcomes are remarkable.

LevelWillow41archiveJun 3

Highest weight was 288 but started shots on January 6 2026 at 261.6 and now at 221. Been lifting for 23 years so carrying decent muscle. Gym four times a week on average since October 2024. Aiming for 205 first before setting anything else.

AmberSparrow63archiveJun 3

Started at 254 on February 12 2026, now 217 for 37 pounds total. Used Wegovy 0.25 for weeks 1-4, 0.5 for weeks 5-8, then reta 2 mg weeks 9-12 and 4 mg weeks 13-18. Working out three times a week.

LevelCinder55archiveJun 3

Scale number alone did not tell the story. Muscle has been added almost as quickly as fat came off. Since October only 24 pounds lost on the scale but went from tight 3X shirts to loose XL.

BlueBeacon98archiveJun 3

Four stone in five months and very happy. Started with TR and now adding RT as well.

One to two pounds a week. Down 46 pounds so far.

NorthSparrow68archiveJun 3

From 328 to 302, 26 pounds in three months. Steady two-pound weekly average while lifting weights three times a week to failure or close. Eating 2270 calories and over 200 g protein daily to try to keep strength. Rate has slowed a little so may cut calories more. Reta stayed at 1 mg until last Saturday then moved to 2 mg. No rush since it took thirty years to reach this point.

AmberTimber37archiveJun 3

62-year-old former athlete who reached 262 on prednisone for autoimmune issues. Started reta at 2 mg per week end of December 2025 and dropped a full 70 pounds to 191-192, the goal weight, in under six months. Dose went up 1 mg each month to 5 mg. Also used tesamorelin occasionally for visceral fat. Switched reta brands recently and it feels weaker so may try 6 mg split. Autoimmune symptoms return if doses are spaced too far apart. Using it both for weight and to manage inflammation from Hashimoto's, mixed connective tissue disease, secondary adrenal insufficiency, and myasthenia gravis.

CopperBeacon48archiveJun 3

Eleven weeks so far.

QuietLedger57archiveJun 3

Started at 296 in November 2024, now 196 in June 2026. Switched from tirz to reta in January and micro-dosing 2.5 mg of reta three times a week.

WryLedger77archiveJun 3

Twelve weeks in and averaging two pounds lost every week. A few weeks hit three, one week only one, but always a loss.

That pace sounds solid. Tried tirz for one month a while back and dropped 20 pounds that month because the doctor started at a higher dose. Got tired of coworkers constantly asking about the weight loss.

SlowLedger31archiveJun 5

Around 86 pounds total with 46 of them on reta across about three months. May was odd. Another 38 targeted by end of August if possible.

PatientAlder89archiveJun 5

18 pounds in 14 weeks. Already at 5 mg tirz for several weeks and just moved to 3 mg reta hoping for quicker results like others, but this week eating has been very difficult with almost no loss and stomach feels off. Probably need to drop back to 2.5 mg reta.

WryCinder69archiveJun 5

Just started reta on Monday at 0.5 mg and feel nothing at all. Planning to go to 1 or 1.5 mg next week. Weigh 184 and aiming for 169-172 to keep a lean base. Any thoughts?

ClearWillow31archiveJun 5

After the first 16 pounds the scale basically stopped moving.

CopperSignal27archiveJun 5

Went from 122 kg to 65 kg between 2012-2014 then regained everything plus more. Later dropped from 145 kg to 75 kg in 2022-23 using very low calorie density high protein diet. Stayed 75-80 kg through 2023-24. Started ozempic mid 2024 and held there until switching to tirz at 15 mg after finding grey peptides. Added reta 5 mg mid 2025 at 78 kg then cagri 0.5 mg early 2026 and gradually reached 64 kg over ten months for 81 kg total lost and BMI 23.

0.5 mg is quite low in my view but starting small on the first pin makes sense to be cautious. Would try 1 mg for a few weeks and watch how it goes. Not a doctor though.

PatientAlder46archiveJun 5

Hit 100 pounds lost yesterday, exactly ten months since starting tirz. Slowed some from January to March but added cagri and the rate picked back up.

PlainAlder11archiveJun 5

46 pounds since the first of January.

WryLedger77archiveJun 5

It takes about four weeks to build up. Starting at 0.5 mg was smart to check for side effects. Since nothing is felt yet, go to 1 mg and stay there another three weeks. Maybe 2 mg after that if still no effect. Apps like MeAgain can track how the levels rise over those four weeks.

GreenQuill84archiveJun 5

12 pounds across four months by starting very slowly, which was the plan. Since then focused on maintaining and adding muscle.

CopperBeacon14archiveJun 5

75 pounds overall, about 60 of them since late October 2025 when the reta and tirz stack began.

IronLantern24archiveJun 5

As of this morning 42 pounds lost since January 5 2026 on reta.

RustSparrow51archiveJun 5

20 pounds since starting the peptide journey in December. More than 50 pounds total since beginning keto and intermittent fasting six years ago.

RustFenwick36archiveJun 5

80 pounds total since August 2025 on reta. Now titrating the dose down because no interest in losing more. Doctor said 140 is the target for age and height and currently at 138.

NorthCompass84archiveJun 5

6'1 male. Started in March around 215 pounds, now 178. Goal is more about how it looks in the mirror but expect to land between 165-170.

LevelCompass91archiveJun 6

Started at 180 now at 120 so 60 pounds total. Using a low dose just to hold the weight.

NorthSparrow68archiveJun 10

Update one week later. The plateau broke after moving to 2 mg reta and crossed into the 200s at 298.8 pounds.

LevelLantern55archiveJun 29
↳ replying to @NorthSparrow68

After five weeks I thought about raising the dose but I can't eat anything at all and that might be the issue.

SteadyAnchor13archiveJun 29
↳ replying to @QuietLedger57

Does that refer to dividing doses instead? To me microdosing involves consuming no greater than one tenth the regular working quantity.

I noticed that even while on a GLP, spending roughly seven days eating a little over maintenance and then shifting back under helped me push past a stall. Whenever my system starts resisting a steady point, giving it a short break seems to do the trick.

ClearAlder39archiveJun 29

My journey began with an initial option back in 2025 and I dropped five stone overall from that. Over the last six or seven weeks I've moved to a different one and shed an extra stone since then. I'm now considering combining it with something else to manage those hunger urges that still appear from time to time.

BrightThistle70archiveJun 29

I got going with it on the seventh of May when I tipped the scales at three hundred eighty six pounds. Currently it's the twenty ninth of June and I've hit three hundred fifty one pounds meaning thirty five pounds shed over a couple of months.

IronHarbour22archiveJun 29

I managed to go from 260 down to 218 using traditional methods across roughly twelve months. Progress halted for a few months though. Several buddies achieved excellent results with reta so I decided to give it a shot. Now I've gone from 218 to 198 over ten weeks using reta. In the initial week I lost four pounds right away from water. Excluding that initial drop I'm averaging around 1.8 pounds lost each week. My target range is 1.5 to 2 pounds weekly and right now I'm hitting that perfectly for myself. I'm currently on 4mg and plan to remain at this level until things shift.

PlainAlder11archiveJun 29

I didn't know the definition of stone for measuring weight until checking it. Apparently six stones add up to eighty four pounds.

GreenAnchor23archiveJun 29

After half a year on it my weight dropped from sixty five kilos down to fifty three. I'm done with the whole thing.

GreenThistle62archiveJun 29

This weekend I finally reached a sixty pound drop. My start was back in October and the whole thing took roughly eight months.

LevelBeacon74archiveJun 29

Wow what an awesome change. My effort got going right after the holiday when I weighed two hundred twenty and now I'm sitting at one hundred ninety four.
