Semax or selank maybe?
Anyone got recommendations for lifting mood while using reta?
Users report mixed effects from reta, ranging from short tempers and loss of pleasure to improved mood from weight loss or low doses. Some try compounds like semax or methylene blue, adjust carb intake, or stop the medication entirely when anhedonia appears. Experiences vary widely by dose and individual sensitivity, with some finding the emotional flattening desirable while others do not.

Semax or selank maybe?
What kind of mood shifts are you seeing on reta? I have not noticed any real change in how I feel or act. Actually that is not quite right, dropping 17 pounds this month has made me feel a lot better.
I began with tirz then added reta hoping for more energy and fat loss, and I did notice a small lift in mood from the combination. Doses are still low at 2.5 mg tirz and 1 mg reta though. I might run into more flatness once I increase. Semax is something I may look into if that happens.
I have run into the same thing you mentioned. For me it shows up as feeling on edge with a very short temper, which is tough when you have three little kids around. Tried nasal semax for five weeks at 400 to 800 mcg daily and got nothing noticeable from it. Buffered NAD+ works better for me because the regular version made my leg twitch after the second shot. The injection days feel smoother with more steady energy and endurance, though that could just be in my head. The biggest help I have found in the last five or six weeks is forcing myself to eat more good carbs and clean sugars. I had been worn out and cranky because my body wanted carbs after years of avoiding them from keto. Food noise is gone for me on reta. It becomes obvious once it hits. I dose 2.4 mg on Tuesday and again on Friday. Morning shots curb appetite by evening and wipe out food noise completely by the next day. All of that has left me feeling more comfortable
I am quitting all GLP medications because the anhedonia has become too much.
The anhedonia actually appeals to me. I feel pretty content most days now.
I cannot picture feeling happy about nothing at all.
Here is some information I came across. Medical sites generally say the medication does not directly cause this issue, though everyone responds differently. I searched because I already know I can be short tempered from trenbolone enanthate even at a low 25 mg per week added to my TRT. It has changed how I feel and I have to stay aware of it. The info notes that some people report irritability on GLP-1 drugs, but it is uncommon and not clearly caused by the drug itself. Most cases trace back to eating too little, blood sugar swings, poor sleep, or shifts in reward pathways. With good oversight these medications stay safe and useful for most. Any mood shifts should be looked at carefully rather than ignored.
Sorry to hear that. My own changes are milder, but at least I now see why I stopped enjoying my morning coffee and quit for two months. I only restarted two weeks ago. Another small thing, I actually cried at the end of a movie I have seen five times before.
At what dose did you first notice the change?
It showed up at just 1 mg. I already know I am very sensitive to these medications. A starting dose of sema almost sent me to the hospital with dehydration. Tirz gave great weight loss results and I stayed on a starter dose even after six months of slow increases. The trade off is that side effects hit me hard too. It is specific to GLPs though, not other meds in general.
Hi, I deal with long standing treatment resistant depression. Actively seeking out things that bring some joy helps over time. What works for me includes singing when I feel low, spending time with my dog doing walks or trips to the lake or dog park, going for walks, getting enough sleep, watching shows, playing games, getting out on the water, self care like a hot bath or spa, and seeing live music. The idea is to pick experiences and expression instead of looking for another substance. After twenty five years with this I think that is the only real way to push back.
I have wondered about this too. Sorry you are dealing with it. Another person here with treatment resistant depression. I am not sad but I have lost the drive to get things done. It bothers me but not enough to push through the tasks I need to finish. I have tried 5 amino, methylene blue, raising my ADD medication, raising my antidepressant, and I am close to talking with my psychiatrist. The last four years have included losing geriatric pets one each year, a layoff, and losing my nephew to drugs. For a stretch I was basically just doing the bare minimum. People told me it was just an animal but losing a twenty year companion felt like losing a child. My nephew’s death split the family apart in painful ways.
You have been through far more than just some hard things. That amount of loss would depress or sicken anyone. It is impressive you are still functioning as well as you are. GLP related anhedonia only adds to it. There is a stress scale called the Holmes Rahe Life Stress Inventory that measures how much recent events are affecting someone. It gives point values to things like deaths, job loss, or injury and shows the risk of health or emotional problems from accumulated stress. You can try the tool online to see your score and how stress is hitting you.
It makes complete sense to feel sad after losses that big. I lost my father and my dog three months apart last year. With depression I have learned that noticing when sadness has a clear reason versus when it does not helps me handle the feelings better.
Where did you get the buffered version of NAD? The regular one does not sit well with me.
I am usually pretty resistant to depression but you have real reasons here. Losing the drive to act seems like the more serious problem to me. People need a sense of purpose. I sometimes lose track of mine but it passes. Mood is basically a chemical reaction so if it can shift one direction there should be a way to shift it back. I have looked at ingredients like GABA, L theanine, and bacopa. A combination of bemethyl, methylene blue, and modafinil works well for me as a mood lift. There is also a product called Euphoria that some people in other places recommend. I might try it while on reta. The rest depends on gender so I cannot be exact. One earlier post was helpful on this. You have to choose experiences on purpose.
I read that and then saw your profile picture and it matches somehow.
I quit for the same reason. After four weeks off I am starting to feel like myself again. I plan to try another round in a few weeks and hope to skip the anhedonia. It began after about six weeks on reta for me.
Crying at the end of a movie probably means your estrogen is running high.
It started for me at only 0.5 mg. I used it for six weeks, took a week off, then restarted. By week eight I felt off and it got worse after that. I stopped and after four weeks I am back to normal.
I was already seeing a therapist before my nephew died. He was treating several of us in the family and figured out the connections quickly. After starting a new job I had to switch psychiatrists. Things are improving but for three years I only handled what was absolutely required. Now I am trying to catch up on everything that was ignored and it feels like too much at once.
