Lost that Week 1 'Zing' with Reta?

6 replies6 peopleJan 28, 2026☆ Follow
Summary

Why does the initial energy boost from retatrutide fade after the first week?

Users commonly report a noticeable energy and focus lift in week one that feels like mild caffeine or even Adderall, then disappears within days to months. Most adapt to the feeling or see it reduce to occasional flashes after dosing, while a few never notice any boost and others experience the opposite fatigue instead. Increasing the dose to chase the effect is generally avoided because of stronger appetite suppression and other side effects.

What this discussion establishesWhere people disagree

Participants differ on whether any energy boost occurred at all, with some never experiencing it and others having the reverse fatigue effect.

Still open

Whether the lost energy sensation can be reliably restored without raising the dose or if it simply becomes unnoticeable over time.

Nothing here is advice.

Anyone notice the strong energy lift from the first week on reta disappearing after that? Mine felt like a couple of coffees, giving a nice spring in my step without being jittery. It faded after week one and I miss the extra zip. Started at 0.5 mg for a couple weeks, moved to 1 mg, then 2 mg, and eventually reached 4 mg before dropping back for other reasons. Raising the dose to chase the feeling again would suppress appetite too hard.

I had the same thing. The first week felt like Adderall with better focus and drive to get stuff done. Now I only get brief flashes of it a day or two after injecting, but nothing like before. Still at 1 mg at the end of week three and thinking about going up next time.

That effect never showed up for me at all haha

When I switched from Zepbound to reta I felt an energy boost. It is still there but I have gotten used to it so it does not stand out as much. Do not chase that feeling.

Exactly like that, including the focus. A friend called it Aimbot Eyes from gaming. I miss the feeling but maybe I am just used to it now. Stayed at 3 mg for a while, tried 4 mg once, then dropped back to 3 mg for a recomp week before returning to 4 mg. Too bad you lost it too, it really was great. You are probably right that I just adapted to it and I will not try to chase it either, just wondered if others had found a way to bring it back.

I had the opposite. Weeks two through four on reta brought really bad exhaustion, especially afternoon crashes after a protein shake. It felt almost like narcolepsy at times and all I wanted was sleep, which was strange since I normally have insomnia. That side effect is gone now.

Same here for the first two or three months, then it faded. I still feel better than my normal baseline but no longer deep-clean the house after a twelve-hour workday just from having extra energy.
