Taste shifts reported while using Tesa and Reta

8 replies9 peopleFeb 5, 2026☆ Follow
Summary

Do Tesa or Reta cause changes in how food tastes or how appealing certain foods become?

Several users describe metallic tastes, reduced desire for alcohol, protein foods, or specific items like tuna and cookies after starting one or both compounds. One person noted combined ingredients in a meal suddenly became unpalatable while separate components stayed fine. Others report no major taste changes but less interest in former trigger foods. A few mention the effect appears stronger when Reta is added to Tirz.

What this discussion establishesWhere people disagree

Some experience clear taste or preference changes while others report mainly reduced affinity for usual foods without metallic or off tastes.

Whether the changes are driven more by Reta, Tesa, or the combination, and how much is actual taste versus altered reward signals.

Nothing here is advice.

Has anyone else seen their sense of taste shift after starting Tesa or Reta? I began both recently, and my usual grilled chicken with cucumber salad now tastes off when eaten together, though each part alone is okay. Couldn't finish it yesterday and had eggs instead. Wondering if it's the Reta.

I haven't noticed anything like that. My interest in many foods has dropped and I no longer want my usual trigger foods at all.

Looks like covid-trutide hit you 🤣 Bad attempt at comedy here, time for me to go.

On Reta the only thing that tastes off is beer, which now has a metallic flavor.

Even just two glasses sets me off with this need to puke it all back up on reta.

Both are in my daily mix. After the evening shot with one of them I get this odd metallic flavor toward the rear of my mouth. Other than that I barely register any change.

Since starting those, booze now has an awful flavor. Even the fresh tuna I used to love makes me feel sick. It's funny how the protein rich items I require end up being the least desirable. Shakes made from powder are the same. Yuck.

That rings true and it's really irritating. Alone on the first medication I had no dislike for protein-rich items. Adding the other compound though has made me completely uninterested in anything with protein. About thirty minutes earlier I had to push myself to have a shake because I noticed my only cravings were for carb-heavy things.

Last month I tried those two things. Recently at a local market a seller offered tastes of baked goods. Sampled the top-selling chocolate one and it seemed like crumbly cocoa powder. I still get cravings for old favorites sometimes but they don't bring the same pleasure now. They remain decent yet different from how they used to be. It makes me question whether the flavor itself shifted or if my mind just stopped sending strong positive signals about it. No dislike for proteins at all. Carbs don't appeal extra strongly either, unlike my usual habit where I'd finish an entire baguette alone.
