Summary

What weight loss results and side effects are people seeing on retatrutide?

Users report losses ranging from 7 to 95 pounds over periods of weeks to eight months at doses from 1 mg up to 10 mg weekly. Skin sensitivity or allodynia is the most common side effect mentioned, often appearing early and sometimes improving with dose splitting, site changes, or time. GI issues like loose stools or sulfur burps occur mainly during dose increases but tend to settle. Several people note better inflammation, energy, or mindset alongside the scale changes.

What this discussion establishesWhere people disagree

Whether skin sensitivity reliably resolves with continued use or requires permanent dose reduction

Long-term ability to maintain weight or regain muscle after stopping or lowering the dose

After four months on reta I've dropped 65 pounds. Would like to hear what others have seen.

WryMarble87archiveDec 22, 2025

That's really impressive. I only managed 55 pounds over six months.

Are you running into any skin sensitivity problems?

CopperAlder51archiveDec 22, 2025

I've lost 39.5 pounds over eleven weeks. Skin felt a bit sensitive for the first six weeks but that faded. Now at 8 mg weekly with almost no other issues. I take a dulcolax a few days before the next shot or the constipation would be worse.

My stomach gets itchy so I switched to injecting in my thighs and that fixed it.

I only had loose stools for a day after each dose increase. Now that I've been at 10 mg for three weeks those issues are gone.

SharpHarbour71archiveDec 22, 2025

I've lost 7 pounds in ten weeks but I'm only using 2.5 mg weekly since I'm just trying to drop about 12-14 pounds for a cut.

GreySparrow27archiveDec 22, 2025

Four weeks in and down 15 pounds. Started at 1 mg, went to 1.5 mg after two weeks, and just moved to 2 mg. Had some skin sensitivity in my armpits and where socks and underwear press, but that actually eased once I reached 2 mg.

LevelThistle45archiveDec 23, 2025

Down 20 pounds in three months. Started at 1 mg for four weeks and have stayed at 1.5 mg since. Still haven't moved to 2 mg because I'm losing about a pound a week.

SteadyTimber49archiveDec 23, 2025

Lost 35 pounds in three months with about 20 more to go. 43 female, started at 200 now 165 aiming for 145.

BrightAlder79archiveDec 26, 2025

Those are amazing results. Not using reta myself but came here to see what people are experiencing, thanks for the thread.

GreyPebble44archiveDec 26, 2025

Been on reta for seven or eight months and lost 95 pounds. Currently at 6 mg a week but dealing with itchiness and irritability around the wrists and neck. Nothing I can't handle but it's annoying.

ClearBeacon24archiveDec 27, 2025

My son says the same thing. Histamine seems to be a common issue.

SlowHarbour27archiveDec 27, 2025

45 pounds since September 2nd. It helped me get my head straight about what I'm eating and made me more aware of other peptides and supplements. Using it as a tool while working toward 10 percent body fat. Learned that consistency matters and the early changes can be tough but worth it.

RustFenwick36archiveDec 27, 2025

45 pounds since mid August at 3 mg twice a week. Still have 25 more to go. 56 female, started at 215 now 170. A few mild reactions. Loose skin on arms, neck and belly is the main thing I notice. Belly fat is the hardest to shift. Feeling much better overall and hoping my blood pressure improves at the checkup.

PlainAnchor67archiveDec 27, 2025

Four weeks in, currently at 3 mg. No weight loss so far. Dealing with sleeplessness, acid reflux, and heart rate spikes.

Seven months on reta and down 50 pounds. Started at 1.5 mg then 2.5 mg the next month and stayed there for four months. Now at 4 mg and planning to try 5 mg. Goal is 150 with 15 pounds left to lose.

BlueMarble68archiveJan 1

No, more like the skin feels painful all over when touched in certain ways, from shirts or temperature changes. Nearing twelve weeks and I think it's finally easing for me.

CopperAlder56archiveJan 2

Used reta for eight weeks starting at 1 mg once a week then twice then three times a week. Went from 105 kg mostly muscle down to 95 kg. Lost some muscle but the big win was less inflammation so I move better and joints feel better. Main downside was losing a lot of strength.

CopperAlder56archiveJan 2

Lost visible muscle and strength in the gym but after being off for a few weeks my strength is starting to return. Are you seeing the same thing?

Can't go above 6 mg a week or the allodynia gets terrible everywhere. Now injecting 2 mg every third day and that gives decent results. Would like to use more since I'm only losing about a quarter pound a week but I don't have much left to lose and need to keep the allodynia under control because it keeps me up all night.

A friend had the same thing only at the start and it went away within a week. She's now at 5 mg weekly with no problem.

SlowBramble73archiveJan 12

Started in October and down 30 pounds. Following the clinical trial dosing schedule. Just reached 8 mg but it's rough with bad sulfur burps and diarrhea. This week I'm splitting it to 4 mg twice a week.

GreenBramble19archiveJan 12

Never had sulfur burps on reta though they were awful on sema along with general indigestion. Had good loss on tirz but the anhedonia and lack of energy were too much so I stopped after about 25 pounds. Reta has worked well for me except for the severe skin sensitivity. Had around 40 pounds to lose and I'm about 10 away. It's coming off slowly while I try to recomp and keep protein high to hold muscle. Slow and steady. Aiming for mid May which feels realistic.

SlowHarbour27archiveJan 12

Finished the weight loss phase and moved into recomp then now heading into a bulk. Will drop from 4 mg twice a week down to 1-1.5 mg twice a week for maintenance. Started September 2nd 2025 at 255 and reached 207 by January 12th. Focused on hitting 2000 calories and protein even when it was tough at higher body weight. Staying hydrated helped a lot. Hypo sides showed up at higher doses so kept trail mix handy. Planning twelve weeks of gradual reduction then bulk to 220-225 before cutting again in April. Reta has changed how I approach food and health. During the bulk I'll increase calories.

Watched a video a few days ago and decided to try it. This morning I injected 2.5 mg into my thigh. No pain, no sting, basically no feeling at all.

Same here. 62 year old male. Started June 2nd 2025 at 232 and hit goal of 188 on October 27th. Still want to bulk back to 195-200 but haven't managed it. Not even using reta now, just 7.5 mg tirz and 1.8 mg survo since mid October and weight stays steady at 185-188 without effort. Have cardio and neck issues so I'm hesitant to lower the dose even though increasing calories past 2500 is really hard especially the protein target. Glad we can work on these things now.

Do you mind sharing your current dosage and how you escalated over time? Dealing with really bad anhedonia on tirz right now and thinking about switching to reta.

GreenBramble19archiveJan 14
↳ replying to @KeenQuill57

Currently at 2 mg every third day. Can't take more at once or the allodynia gets intense especially when it's cold. Started at 2 mg for three or four weeks then added 1 mg every couple of weeks. Sensitivity started at 3 mg but wasn't constant at first. Got worse as I went higher and didn't improve like others said it would. Tried 3 mg twice a week then dropped to 2 mg and most of it went away. Still get mild episodes now and then. Sorry you're dealing with anhedonia on tirz.

SharpHarbour48archiveJan 15

Going to try reta again. If it still doesn't work I'll do a six week break and start over. Power titrated to 4 mg over three weeks and will stay there for now.
