Sema + Reta… has anyone tried it? At what dosages? Effects?

16 replies9 peopleApr 8, 2026☆ Follow
Summary

Has anyone stacked semaglutide with retatrutide for appetite suppression or weight loss, and what dosages and results have they seen?

Users report trying low-dose sema added to ongoing reta regimens to enhance food-noise control after plateaus, with mixed outcomes on weight loss and side effects. Some switched to tirz stacks instead and saw modest additional progress. Concerns include receptor overlap, total GLP-1 load, sleep disruption at higher reta, and rapid loss rates risking muscle or gallbladder issues. Doses mentioned range from 0.125-2.4 mg sema with 2.5-9 mg reta weekly, often staggered.

Would adding a low dose of semaglutide to retatrutide help boost appetite suppression? Anyone tried this and can share dosing ideas, given I'm already around 8 mg reta each week?

Someone here is probably doing it, though the reta plus tirz stack gets used more often for the same goal. Opinions on stacking GLP peptides vary, mainly over limited research on long-term biological safety rather than current side effects. One view is that reta's different impact on glucose could partly reduce the other compound's effectiveness. Another is to watch total receptor stimulation when overlapping agonists. A frequent workaround is stacking cagrilintide instead since it hits a separate pathway yet still cuts food noise. That said, I've run the reta plus tirz combo briefly just for the food-noise reduction and felt fine with no bad effects, though I'm still adjusting my approach as I learn more. Everyone responds differently.

Tirz looks strongest for appetite control, so switching might be the smarter move. There's some case for adding a little reta to a tirz plan to improve outcomes, but faster weight loss often means more muscle loss. You can offset that with diet and lifting, yet if you're already doing those things you probably don't need the extra push.

My doctor has me on 2.4 mg semaglutide through Wegovy. I've hit a standstill and haven't dropped weight since last July, maybe five pounds total at most. I'm considering adding 0.25 or 0.5 mg retatrutide starting April 13. I'll take the usual Wegovy shot on Monday and begin retatrutide on Thursday. Hope the experiment goes okay.

How did that turn out? I was in a similar spot and have been running sema with reta together for a few months. Thinking about swapping the sema for tirz. No big side effects so far, but the sema is causing some constipation.

It helped move things along and I dropped four pounds, which was progress even if small. Now I'm stacking tirz with reta and have lost nearly five pounds in six weeks. I'll start a new thread about the tirz plus reta experience.

I've been stacking 0.125 mg sema twice a week with 9 mg reta twice a week for a bit over five weeks on staggered days. The first 0.25 mg dose hit harder than expected and left me feeling off. Down 17 pounds so far, though some came from dropping creatine and the water weight that followed.

Sema and reta work well together. Reta is a fairly weak GLP-1 agonist while sema is purely a GLP agonist, so it fills that gap. I'm cautious about tirz because both reta and tirz are strong GIP agonists. Currently using 2.4 mg sema and 4 mg reta; higher reta doses start hurting my sleep quality.

What's your current dosing? I'm at 7 mg reta and planning to add 2.5 mg tirz this week just to quiet food noise. Losing 3.5 pounds weekly already, so I'm not trying to speed things up, only stop constant thoughts about food.

Unless you're very overweight, that rate of loss makes some food noise normal. It's quite fast and you should probably eat more to stay under two pounds a week. Ignore this if you're very overweight.

Started at 290, now at 255. Was dropping 5.5 pounds weekly but raised calories and am now at 3.5.

It's been mentioned elsewhere that this pace is getting close to risky territory for the gallbladder and other issues.

Yeah, it is. Still working on slowing the rate. Hitting over 180 grams of protein daily and gradually adding more calories.

If you need extra calories to ease the loss, fats and carbs are usually simpler ways to add them. Assuming a 1 percent body-weight loss target per week, you're short about 500 calories daily.

I'm on 5 mg tirz and just 2.5 mg reta. When I first started with zepbound alone I responded strongly and lost over 30 pounds. Because of that good response to tirz I'll keep reta low at 2.5 mg and only increase tirz every two to three months. Your idea of a low tirz dose makes sense with your higher reta amount.

That's really helpful to hear. I've been getting pretty dizzy and lightheaded lately.

NorthTimber75archiveJul 22

Using 1.2 mg sema and 8 mg reta weekly. Progress is slow so I've started lowering doses, now at 1.2 mg sema and 4 mg reta. Planning to taper reta off over the next twelve weeks, stay on sema another six weeks, then check if weight returns. If it stays off I'll reduce sema by 0.2 mg every four weeks to find a maintenance level.
