What are you eating?

Summary

What do people actually eat while on GLP-1 or similar medications?

Users report eating the same foods as before but in smaller amounts with little interest in snacking or overeating. Some stick to high-protein meals with vegetables while others include occasional pizza or macaroni and cheese without the old compulsions. A few follow structured calorie plans or carnivore-style eating and note the medication makes adherence easier.

Figured sharing meals would help everyone see what leads to results and swap some useful options. Could not locate a similar thread when I checked. Lunch:

One nice thing with this medicine is keeping the exact same meals from before. I might include a few more vegetables but everything else is just smaller and there is no snacking or even the wish to snack.

Exactly. People keep asking what I eat on a GLP diet. I just eat whatever I feel like, only much smaller amounts.

After twenty years of strict carb limits because any carbs would turn into a thousand, I can now handle them without the intense follow-up urge. Earlier when I stayed thin it came from forcing twelve hundred calories daily while staying hungry. Without that control the weight came back. These days twelve hundred calories feels manageable. I mostly stick with meat and vegetables like always, though yesterday I had two slices of pizza instead of four or six. Today it was one serving of macaroni and cheese mixed with tuna from a can. Still, meat and vegetables are what I usually pick, though having a nine-year-old sometimes means making macaroni and cheese.

I tend to go all in one way or the other, either completely off track or aiming for total perfection. That approach has downsides but it works for me.

Planning to cook the salmon and shishito peppers that are waiting in the fridge tonight.

Mostly chicken and vegetables lately to keep protein high and carbs controlled, along with plenty of fresh produce and fruit and no bread. Water is the main drink, sometimes with sugar-free flavoring added. One electrolyte drink a day too. Goal weight is one hundred eighty-five and I am currently two hundred at six feet tall. No full cheat day since March and no real desire for one either. Cravings for old junk foods have faded away completely, which feels odd. I used to love those foods. I cooked in restaurants for twenty years and I am the main cook at home, so the family still gets their favorites made but I have no interest in eating them. I did try a few bites of key lime pie last week but it tasted too sweet and I could not finish it. About a month ago I tried cauliflower crust pizza and it was good, though only one slice. I can even have a grilled chicken salad for breakfast now. It feels like being in that Twilight Zone movie where the

Mostly soups, beans, chili, and curry that can be made ahead and served with a blend of brown rice, quinoa, and millet.

My eating plan is annoying and I dislike it, but this is what I follow: twelve hundred calories daily to begin with, plus three hundred flexible calories, plus two servings of fruit, plus unlimited non-starchy vegetables. The twelve hundred must come from food only, nothing to drink. The three hundred can be anything. I am a thirty-five-year-old woman at two hundred one pounds and five foot four. A typical day looks like coffee with cream and sugar, a protein smoothie with Greek yogurt, protein powder, frozen berries and water or juice, an adult lunchable with four ounces of turkey, cheese, cucumbers, peppers, hummus and watermelon, then chicken with potatoes or a large chicken salad. A soda, protein shake or snack comes in as needed.

Basically just a protein shake made with egg white and beef protein plus a tablespoon of green banana powder, plus meat and eggs and sometimes cheese. I follow a carnivore approach and enjoy it. I already lost a lot of weight on it before starting the medication. It suits me well and the medication simply makes staying on it far easier.

A frequent meal I liked was browning ground turkey with taco seasoning, then making a large romaine salad and using salsa as dressing for a low-calorie but flavorful taco salad. Homemade salsa works or a jarred brand is fine. Adding avocado for fat and a few ripe olives for extra flavor and texture, with some pico de gallo on the side, keeps it low calorie, high protein and with good fats.

Pretty much the same things every day, but thanks to the medication I do not mind at all.

CopperBeacon24archiveJul 29

I rely on meal kits because they simplify choosing lower-calorie higher-protein dishes. Before the medication the two portions per kit became one, but now it stretches to three. Five different meals a week and I rotate through three accounts to keep getting discounts.
