What is everyone eating on Reta

Summary

What foods help keep protein high and carbs low on retatrutide when appetite is gone?

Users on 4 mg report very low daily calories and gag at the thought of protein foods. Several say the dose is likely too high and suggest dropping it temporarily while the suppression eases. Most who are eating successfully rely on eggs, chicken, fish, Greek yogurt, cottage cheese, and occasional protein shakes or red meat, and a few add rice or potatoes for energy. Protein targets range from 60 g to 150 g daily, with the shared view that muscle loss is a real risk in a deep deficit.

On 4 mg I have almost no desire to eat and the idea of protein foods makes me feel sick. I dislike yogurt so that route is out, and I am avoiding ready shakes because of the carbs and sugar. Some days I barely reach 600 calories and I am worried about feeling weak. Would dropping the dose help me get food down again?

If eating feels impossible the dose is probably too high. I do not try to cut carbs because I enjoy them. I go through two to six Oikos shakes daily for 30 g protein each, and I also make a chicken burrito with fajita meat, cheese and a large tortilla that gives me 60 g protein.

You mentioned 4 mg, maybe try a lower amount. My protein comes mostly from chicken breast, eggs, tuna, whey, low-sugar bars, salmon, other fish and extra-lean ground beef. I allow myself one bar and get another 60–70 g from a whey shake mixed with Greek yogurt.

I focus on chicken, steaks, pork and fish along with plenty of fresh steamed vegetables. Now that I have reached my weight goal I have also increased carbs.

The strong suppression is probably temporary and eating should get easier in the next few weeks. Instead of hunting for new foods it may be better to adjust the dose schedule. Protein needs can be treated as a longer-term target while the body adjusts rather than something to force in the first couple of weeks.

I rely on protein shakes and yogurt because I am tired of chicken breast. I stir oat bran into the shakes and sometimes have poke or sushi. Before training I may add a snack cake or fruit juice.

Skipping protein while in a deficit means losing muscle. Chicken, steak, boiled eggs, protein yogurt, cottage cheese and regular protein shakes all help. Gentle complex carbs like oats, porridge, brown rice and sweet potato supply energy. I aim for 2000 calories at maintenance but still find it a chore even though I have some appetite.

If eating is this difficult the dose is too high. Breakfast was egg bites, sauerkraut and a low-carb tortilla for 32 g protein and lots of fiber. Lunch was chicken sausage, cottage cheese and raw or pickled vegetables plus an apple. Dinner includes rice, broccoli and red meat for the iron.

I have been on 4 mg for about eight weeks after starting at 2 mg and I manage 1500–1700 calories. I rotate chicken, ground beef, lean steak, Greek yogurt and lentils, and I eat a lot of shrimp in ceviche or cocktail. I also use a 50 g protein shake that is 400 calories. If daily intake stays below 1000 calories the dose is too high.

My meals are ribeye with arugula, lemon and olive oil, 80/20 beef with high-fat tzatziki, roast chicken and potatoes with lemon and oil, or leftover-meat bone broth with konjac and herbs. I also drink coffee with cream and stevia and add plenty of salt. I alternate between the meat day and the soup day.

I use ultra-filtered milk in plain, vanilla or chocolate, ultra-filtered shakes, and cottage cheese that I flavor myself. I buy plain yogurt and add my own flavors rather than buying pre-flavored ones. Kefir is another option I have not seen mentioned yet.

I eat whatever I feel like, including two slices of pizza for lunch. I have lost 52 lb so far and I go to the gym every day.

I keep protein at 150 g minimum with medium-boiled eggs and a shake for breakfast, chicken or fish with rice for lunch, and meat plus starch and vegetables for dinner. Snacks are cashews, peanuts, bars and shakes. Total calories sit around 2000 while training three times a week. I split 2 mg reta on Sunday and 2.5 mg tirzepatide on Wednesday and lose 2–3 lb weekly.

Carbs should not be cut when calories are already hard to reach. My day is two eggs with sourdough and cottage cheese, blackened chicken tenders with a Greek-yogurt and cottage-cheese dip plus roasted potatoes, and a protein shake with dark-chocolate almonds. That lands at 1200–1400 calories, 140 g protein and 90 g carbs.
